Just saw that myself - the last successful privateer, and I'm pretty sure a lot of people at Aston were there when his name was over the door. Always felt like he could have been the heir to Bernie but I guess he didn't want that role.

Oh man, that's a shame. I always liked Eddie, very amusing character and Jordan were a great team.

Sad day. He was a character and never took himself seriously. Decent drummer as well, I remember his bright yellow kit with the hornet logo when I worked at Premier Percussion in Leicester.

Very sad news, what a charachter EJ was! I met him at a book signing and asked him to sign it to Damon, he shot back with 'Ah Jaysus, not another one!'

Hardly his fault though - isn't that just how it was in the perilous pre-corporate days of F1?

hmmm when they found out that the reason they were waiting to be paid was that he'd used it to buy the boat...they were less than chuffed

Damon was there as well but I’m pretty sure it was 96 I was there for my 40th. DC would have been awkward, do t remember if he was there or not that year

I'm sure it was a regular thing for a few years in the nineties. 

Probably both then. I just remember Herbert singing Jonny B Goode the year he won

Just watched sprint highlights in my lunch hour! It was a great result for Lewis.
Norris made a couple of errors, which is a shame but seems to be a pattern there when under pressure. Hopefully he'll correct it for the full race.

Shocker for Lawson and the more he struggles like this, the worse it will get. Perez must be feeling pretty smug, right now.

Lawson was almost 2 second off the pole time, which seems like a long way away.

If Lawson gets the hoof then who do they have to replace him? Bottas maybe? 

The sensible option would be Tsunoda into Red Bull and Arvid Lindblad into RB. But that can't happen till August due to Lindblad's age!  

As it is I don't think they've got a back-up for Lawson failing.

And Zak Brown was predicting this week that Max is on his way to Mercedes next season. So Red Bull really are in the then!

I thought Tsunoda and Lawson were in the wrong seats, I think I'm right 

I also thought Sainz and Antonelli were in the wrong ones. Not so sure now, Antonelli has started well and Sainz hasn't done too badly choosing Williams, that car has potential 

Obvious thing would be Hadjar to the big team and Lawson to the junior team to get a bit more experience. But Alpine have three drivers for two seats so who knows.

I was, but only on the Saturday! I remember getting to Silverstone and seeing a long queue to get through the gates. I had bought tickets in advance but wasn't sure if I was in the right queue so sent my gf off to find out. I was in the wrong queue, so as she walked back to me she called out 'Damon, this way' and the whole queue fell deathly silent. Great moments in life!

Pretty wild that this is even being discussed at this point.  Would think it's too late to do anything about it in reality.

Red Bull have built a whole new factory to build a 2026 engine! No way this was going to be binned at this late stage.

I don't even think it will be V10s for the next engine cycle. Middle-ground talk is of a V8 with some hybrid element.

There’s a bit of “definition of insanity” about that. Yuki is the only one with a sniff of a chance of not imploding in that seat

RedBull don't seem to have many alternatives. They should hire someone to manage their driver development programme so they can nurture talent rather than letting Marko and Max do a tag team takedown on anyone in the second seat. Oh hang on...

Agree, far more likely they'd increase fuel flow/boost limit/fuel amount for '27 if '26 turns out to be a dud.

There's also the possibility of adding front axle regen like the g3 Formula E cars have (again not for '26, more likely '28/29).

we had camping tickets that weekend and we blagged some platinum hospitality tickets off a tout. We had a great weekend living the highlife LOL

I'm not sure why this talk of NA V10s has come about. Surely if they wanted to reduce cost/size/weight just dumping the hybrid element and increasing the capacity of the current engines could work?

I can't imagine many of the newer venues that have never had the old NA engines would be too happy.  There would be all sorts of noise/health/environmental objections to going back to the old screamers. 

Liberty want F1 to be family friendly entertainment, not an ear splitting environmental hazard...  

I cant see the old ways returning I'm afraid, especially as iirc both spa and Silverstone were being served noise complaints pre-hybtid.  

Redbull's problem is they want a clear no 1 and no 2 driver for the whole season, so no really good drivers will want to go there if they know there is no chance of them wining the championship

Merc, Ferrari, Aston & Mclaren seem to have a policy of letting team mates race and when it becomes clear that one of them is clearly ahead by miles and in a battle for the championship with another team then that driver gets treated as a no1 which i think is the best way to do it

Im surpised Redbull have not spoken to Bottas as i think he'd be quite happy to be a no 2 driver and has plenty of experince but i guess Redbull have to justify thier junior driver program and promote within, Perez wasnt part of that and did well for the first 2-3 years at Redbull

Excellent news of Lewis’s first (half!) Ferrari win to wake up to.

Not watched the race yet but a 7 second lead in a Sprint race looks pretty dominant.

Do feel for Lawson, I bet MV doesn't share any information with him. 

I think that Max just has a style that's very different to most drivers and the car can be driven very quickly but only really if you drive similarly to Max . If you don't it isn't. I'd imagine that Lawson gets to see Max's data, and probably thinks "how the **** does he get it to do that"

Probably some fancy support from a very expensive collar bone specialist in Monaco. Available in various widths including 23mm, 25, 28...

I'm very much enjoying F1 2025 so far - despite McLaren apparently having the pace neither driver has so far been consistent and the rest of the field is close enough to take advantage when that happens.

Absolutely, 18 laps behind Stroll is a bit of a shocker. Struggle to believe that Max, or Oscar, wouldn’t have been past a long time before that

Much as I hate to say it, that's the difference between Max and Lando, Max has the edge over him.

I think before long we might also be saying it’s the difference between Oscar and Lando.

Plus Oscar doesn’t have Lando’s self-doubt and isn’t afraid to play hardball. I’m leaning towards predicting that he’ll finish the season ahead of Norris.

Moment of the weekend so far was to hear LH's giggle when he asked "where are we?" And got told P1 in sprint Q3

I don’t think Lawson will be in that Red Bull in Japan - they’ve changed the car overnight and he still can’t make the tyres work.
