I put my bike on the roof of my car and drove off after taking a mini pump off the bike I've had for years and leaving it on the roof.

Mini pump is toast.

What have you forgotten and can you recommend a new mini pump.

Pulled out of a car park and drove off up the street keeping left, as you do.

I was in Andorra.

Drove off with my Garmin on the roof, didn't realise until I got home .Didn't find it. I've had a rule about putting stuff on the roof since then.

Where to start! Glasses left on trains, mobile phones and wallets left on top of cars are the main ones,

Not much nowadays.

I got so fed up of "losing" trivial stuff around the house - glasses, car keys etc, that I now have a system in place.

back in the day though there were a few biggies. Bike rack still on the roof on a Monday morning after a weekend of riding, wanted to just "pop in to the tip" on the way to work with a few bags of rubbish....straight under the height restriction barrier. That little slip ruined the bike rack (I left it at the tip) and scratched the car badly too.

More recently, before moving here to Spain I lived in South Africa for 8 years. Once drove for an hour in my pickup to meet friends for an MTB ride only to find that my bike was in the back of the truck but it's front wheel was at home leaning against the wall by the front door!

I may have also packed the wrong cycling shoes once or twice. MTB's don't fit road pedals and vice versa......

A pair of 20x70 binoculars on a tripod left on the car roof. Miraculously they only bent when they hit the ground so every time I looked through them I felt like I was cross eyed.

I once got to Hamsterley Forest & as I pulled into the car park said to myself, 'I'm going to have to wheelie round' as I realised I'd left the front wheel at home.

I'm now 62 & I've forgotten how much I've forgotten.

What was the question?

Ah, that's it - you can find them on aisle 2, just next to the baked beans.

Hmm..lots !

The one that always springs to mind is my wallet being left on top of the loo roll holder at Woodall Services Southbound a few years back on the way to a Peak District MTB trip ..£120 quid cash / bank and credit card all handed in intact when I realised and phoned from the Ladybower Inn upon arrival ..

The bloke who handed it in didn't leave a contact name to be thanked either ..but I will be forever grateful ..

My wife has twice left her handbag in services on the M6 whist en route to the Lake District. In both cases someone handed it in and we got it all back.

Garmin in the lounge at Canberra airport, Evil Eyes in a meeting room mostly stuff expensive enough to be really annoying.

Got 500m Vertically down a steep trail before I realised my bag was at the top

Bought 3 pairs of black shoes due to getting off a plane and not finding them in my bag

Though I do know somebody who drove into their car port with the bike on the roof, "remembered" just in time to reverse quickly over the bike that had been knocked off the roof.

Forgot I was logged into the live production system, rather than the development one, when I erased a database once. Amazed to still have a job afterwards.

did that in Paris once, after driving around some of the one way back streets swung out into one of the main dual carriageway boulevards into the on coming traffic luckily there was time (early in the morning) and room to swing round in a big loop up the right way. Had the MD from sweden in the car at the time 🙂

Apart from the usual day-to-day stuff, I did forget that when driving in Los Angeles and negotiating an interchange under the Ventura Highway you have to keep to the right, cue much flashing of lights from oncoming van! Oops.

I've forgotten to go to work after a bad weekend before now.

I've also forgotten what my name is, where I live, how I got there and how to get home a few times.

I've never forgotten who my mates are though.

That's what counts.

Could be worse. The result of your forgetfulness could be calling someone else daddy!

Got half way up Helvellyn (on foot) before remembering I'd took camera out and put it on the roof of the car. It was still there when we got back, a very nice chap called Steve from Flitwick found it there when he got back down and stashed it under the front wheel arch. The fact it stayed on top for at least three hours was pretty impressive!

I think there's some sort of memory-wiping device in my kitchen, I regularly pre-heat the oven for 30+ minutes (instead of putting food in it) and have created a sauna on more than one occasion by putting a pan of water on to boil and forgetting about it. I usually remember cooking times long enough to get back to my living room to tell Alexa to set a timer but not always...

Went climbing on Dow Crag one day (the one near Walna Scar). Got back to the car to find the key in the driver's door! I did the same at Stanage Edge a couple of years later. (before central locking obviously)

I left a front wheel in Powter How car park last time I was home.

It was still there when I went back for it - it was 26". ha.

I left a biscuit tin of about £150-£200 of change on the roof of my car.

The resulting loud thud as i pulled onto the main road did get my attention.

Spent the next few minutes picking up change, lost about £4.

once had a nice afternoon walking around Tenby before I realised i'd lost our only car key.

Half an hour of panicked retracing of steps later, and I found it, back in the car park, still in the car door lock (!?!), where it had been all afternoon. One of those times i was glad to drive a bit of a banger...

Left the side door of the van open, (not just unlocked, actually fully slid back) at the MNPR once. Couple of hours riding and noticed when we got back. Another bike, toolbag and box of useful stuff like jumpleads, spare coats etc. all present and correct. This wasn't in some remote out of the way car park, this was outside a pub in Prestwich!

All the time, to the point where I get a bit worried that forgetting things is the first sign of something worrying...

But most prominently, a pair of Oakleys on top of the van many years ago. Drove off, never saw them again. Various things in airline seat pockets (mp3 players, Kindle, earphones etc). And just putting stuff down around the house and then forgetting where, from cups of tea to keys, my watch etc.

I reckon if you see something wide open, one might assume the owner was nearby.

Some friends had a weekend away to find they'd left their entire garage open, open door visible from the main road.

I (quite regularly) leave the keys in the roofrack when I've removed the bike.

What's worse is that I sometimes find them in there 3-4 days after riding (the wife has the car in the week).

Some friends had a weekend away to find they’d left their entire garage open

I've done the same, went away for the weekend and came back to my neighbour saying he had shut the door after the first day but didn't want to do it too soon unless we'd left it open on purpose.
My theory is that we were all loaded up and ready to go, but looking for something that was either in the car boot or in the garage. I found it in the car, so shut the boot and got in and drove away. never actually looked behind me to see the wide open garage door 2ft away!

I'm also good at forgetting half of what I went to the shops to get. I've heard of this new fangled thing called a shopping list, but I convince myself it's only a few things and I'll remember them all. I dont.

Mines not physical items, mine is dates. I can just about remember my wife and daughters birthday, but have to think, i couldn't tell you anyone elses.

The number of times i have booked an event entry, only for my wife to turn to me and say, "have you forgotten something?" last one was Round Norfolk Epic 200 miler on our wedding anniversary so i was a dribbling one drink wonder when i went to dinner afterwards!
