mini marshall amps -- any good???

Not really.

Small speakers at low volume will always sound rubbish I'm afraid. You need to be pushing a bit of air with a decent speaker/cabinet to get a good sound 🙂

If you're after a mini amp I guess you want something for low volume practice? You may be better off getting some amp modelling software for your pc. It doesn't have the same feel as a proper valve amp, but Amplitube 3 is getting there.

Ah it may be ok then - so long as it has distortion it should be fine for a beginner 😛 It will most likely sound thin and tinny (can of bees) though.

Blatant plug but I have a Kustom KGA65 I need to get rid of as I don't have the space. It sounds a lot better than the small Marshalls and can get loud enough to play with a drummer when said guitarist is ready to form a band!
