Another Southgate master class. Haters gonna hate 🤣 Toney was great when he came on though.

Really felt like we were going flop out without much of a go but a couple of great goals (Slovakia goal was decent too). Another case of doing just enough, barely. The Swiss will be a proper test

We don’t have golden goal anymore

Yeh, but was never in doubt after we went ahead 😉

Yeh, I am taking the piss you know.

Terrible performance again, poor substitutions that turned out OK, very little goal threat, all made OK by the feel good of having scraped a win we barely deserved.

Only slight consolation is we're still in it, and we can't continue being this bad. At some point surely something has to click.

No hubris at all, incredibly lucky to be where we are.

I was actually a bit cross when "we" equalised - 30 min more misery ... and now another 90 to come in the week

Even in extra time and a goal up they resort to defending 18 yards out, FFS

Oh the agony of watching the clock tick down in the 5 mins of extra time after the first 90 thinking “that’s it, we’re out” and then to actually score. Actually score! ‘kin unbelievable Jeff. Engerland!

This Georgia side look like they could make short work of Engerland

Landlord was Slovakian, still rooting for England coz he knows which side his bread is buttered, I still felt very sorry for his young lad in full Slovak kit 🥲

I think Georgia will find it tough in the second half as Spain begin to unleash.

Spain Germany in the next round. Why on earth don't they do a new draw for each round, like they do with most other competitions?

Because the logistics of supporters and nations needing to find tickets and accommodation at a few days notice is impossible. OK, you don't know for certain whether you'll finish top or second or whatever after the groups, but most of the larger nations with bigger followings can make a decent guess, and then the rest of the journey is mapped out

Meanwhile, in one of the biggest last minute goals since Platt vs Belgium in 1990....... and the bloke over Kane's left shoulder, behind the kid in the Yale top misses it because PUT YOUR ****ING PHONE AWAY!!

I'm enjoying the online footage of England fans leaving early, then being told that Bellingham had scored. Spending thousands, then prioritising getting on a tram is the most English thing ever.

They’ll claim they were there. So, changes for the Swiss? I’d keep the same except replace Saka with Gordon and play Foden on the right. Not sure he has many other options - Mainoo was decent in the middle. Maybe Shaw in at left back if he’s fit.

I'd start with whatever team was on for Kanes goal but that would be too risky no doubt.  would like to see Gordon on for someone else .

Eze was great.  love to see these players as they're fighting for their spot and have the confidence to go one on one rather than backwards

spain were great too.  hard to look past them at the moment.

 So, changes for the Swiss?

The only changes will be for injury/suspension. Southgate's game plan is (and always has been) to keep the ball and only pass to feet, no forward runs into space despite the team having no attacking threat whatsoever. They fluked a win last night but more of the same against Switzerland and they'll get hammered

We've played great in the past, to then  pack the bags and go home as unlucky losers. Nice to get a last minute reprieve and look forward to another game next week👍

How many free kicks has Ronaldo actually scored? Maybe because I only watch internationals but I don't understand why his teammates seem to automatically defer to him every time 🙄

I'd imagine managing Ronaldo in his advancing years is similar to managing Biden.

Ha! Vindicated by BBC pundits, he's 1 for 58 in free kicks in major tournaments, but they didn't fancy anyone's chances of persuading him off the ball 😂

I don't know, friends... I mean, we've all been critical of England's performances but Slovenia are making a real match of what on paper should be a walkover, and there've been a lot of surprise results. Maybe things have moved on and there ARE no minnows in large tournaments any more?

I said this earlier in the thread; these little Balkan teams are very fit, organised and with good technique and difficult to break down.

Only Spain seem to be able to put away the ‘smaller’, well organised nations. The French seem able to bore themselves to the title, great defence, nick a goal.

Ain't done 'em much good so far. 🙂 Interesting to hear the difference in the punditry, bigging up the organised defence.

Roberto Martinez must rival Southgate for worst use of a decent squad.
