Does anyone fly direct from Manchester to Florence (Italy)?
Yes, I could google but I'm likely to get a better answer here. Which airport (Pisa or Florence) is best to use?
Am I better going to Venice instead?
Cheers in advance
Florence does have a small airport, but most commercial flights go into Pisa.
Ryanair fly Liv - Pisa. Pisa is about 30 mins by train from Florence.
I prefer Florence to Venice, but to each their own. Depends what you're into.
Florence is awful, packed full of tourists (ah, the irony: we were part of the problem!), the sights are overrated...
That said, the rest of Tuscany / Umbria is wonderful, great food, the hilltop towns, Orvieto, Sienna...
Florence is awful,
you're joking, right?
the sights are overrated...
Really? Brunelleschi's Dome, Michelangelo's David, The Uffizzi.....
Perlease! 🙄
Like you say though, other towns are available. My personal favourite is Lucca, followed closely by Sienna.
Go to Florence out of season. No queues, great place. Probably my favourite place in Italy and I spent nearly 2 years in that baffling country.
We went with Alitalia about 5 years ago from Manchester to Florence, via Milan Malpensa. Fantastic city, would love to go back.
