Righto, in process of 'doing' the kitchen. Underneath the old floor covering I've found a collection of lino tiles and fake parquet flooring tiles, that appear to have been glued down with the worlds strongest glue. Trying to dig them up with a tile removing tool has just resulted in A) a broken tool & B) my arthritic hands screaming in pain.
Any tips on getting rid of these damn things? Floor underneath appears to be bitumen or something.
Eatgun and a good flexible scraper.
Usual advice applies - beware the asbestos!
Don't think there's any asbestos - its a solid (and I mean solid) floor underneath. Tiles look like they've been there for a couple of decades at least, does heat break this sort of glue down?
If the tiles are old square vinyl then likely to be Asbestos, the bitumen below too.

What age is the house?
Our 50s house had original tiles on the floor. Peeled away fine once some heat applied. The material isn't getting broken up so no real risk even if they did contain asbestos.
House is late C19th but suspect the tiles are mid 80's by the style.
The lino tiles have come up now, the mock parquet jobbies are a barsteward though!
