Not movie themed as such. But I always admired the karate kids' shower costume.

Brief Encounter

Your Mrs can be Celia Johnson and you can be Trevor Howard

Close Encounters

Your Mrs can be Richard Dreyfus and you can go as a giant mountain of mashed potato.

Easy one for you Harry ๐Ÿ˜€

And as I've met your wife I'll leave it to you to decide which of the female characters to suggest for her...

Mia and Vincent from Pulp Fiction.
Easy costumes, and you can blow them away with your dance moves to you never can tell.
Worked for me and the missus, not sure we amazed them with our dance moves, but by then I was too hammered to care! ๐Ÿ˜†

Another Blofeld suggestion, if your Mrs is game, some white fur, whiskers and ears and you have your cat...

I still have that suit somewhere, not sure my Mrs has her white fur ears...

this is the best I've seen - and the idea is eminently adaptable for other screen duos:

It is. However it has been sacked off as Mrs Spider's Mary Poppins boots don't fit over her broken and plated ankle. Star Wars here we come! ๐Ÿ˜€

Luke and Leia. Although I'm bald a 6" taller than Mark Hamill. The effect will be ruined by my comedy wig.

Mrs Spider has ruled out the iron bikini and will be going for the white robes and blaster look. ๐Ÿ™

The upside is that I now have to make a blaster!
