Been asked to do a round for a quiz, 'Guess the bassline'
Need some ideas for recognisable basslines from any genre/age to get a good balance for oldies and younguns.
Fire away!
(Thanks!)
"She Bangs the Drums" - Stone Roses
"Blue Monday" - New Order

No idea if I'd recongise it from this but what a fabulous bass solo;
Motorhead's "Motorhead"?

Jam - Start same as beatles taxman
I feel love - donna summer
Guns of brixton - The clash
Not a bassline as such, but "The Chain" - FLeetwood Mac

And Steady as she goes - first few bars - by the Raconteurs (and a bit similar to the previous suggestion)
All around the world - Daft Punk
Jam – Town Called Malice
Weather Report - Jaco Pastorios ?? Blinkin Ek.. I used to like them..
Joy Division - She's Lost Control

Why has nobody mentioned Superstition by Stevie Wonder???
Guns of brixton - The clash
Only if you want 20 different correct answers as the bass line is a classic reggae rift used by many Reggae artists and a fair few pop including Beats International, Dub be good to me.
For The Stranglers, Peaches, surely?
jefferson Airplanes White rabbit is a classic and pretty well known and recognisable
just about anything by PIL or jah wobble
or maybe this one
The bass solo in 'Call Me Al', Paul Simon? About 2 seconds long but distinctive.
Sympathy for the Devil
Paperback Writer
Any of the Geezer-era Sabbath songs
And definitely Billie Jean
The Stranglers --- Peaches
Too obscure? 😆
Cream- Sunshine of your Love
the s, the u, the p, the e the r....

How about Dave Clarke / Red 2 or Jeff Mills / The Bells - always sounded amazing on a big, bassy systems. Or even a cheeky bit of Lochi 🙂
nice and simple
jealous guy john lennon
How about this:
Thanks for all the suggestions - some great ones in there.
Would like some newer ones though as it's for an Office quiz so be a bit unfair if it's just older stuff. Looking for stuff post 2005 please.
