Been asked to do a round for a quiz, 'Guess the bassline'

Need some ideas for recognisable basslines from any genre/age to get a good balance for oldies and younguns.

Fire away!

(Thanks!)

Some older ones

Walk on the wild side (Herbie Flowers on Bass)
Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick - Ian Dury(the still awesome Norman W-R)
The Intro of "Birdland" by Weather Report if you want to test them a bit (Jaco - still the best ever)
Come Back and stay - Paul Young (Pino)
Is She really going out with him? by Joe Jackson
And Steady as she goes - first few bars - by the Raconteurs (and a bit similar to the previous suggestion)

actually the first bar alone of the Stranglers "no more heroes" would be a really good one. Short, but there is nothing else like it

Joy Division - She's Lost Control

Yep.

New Dawn Fades is another Hook-tastic bassline, but there are so many (Monaco's What Do You Want From Me? stands out too).

Amazed that no-one's mentioned:

Chic - Good Times

Madonna - Like A Prayer (Guy Pratt goes off on one, apparently didn't even remember recording it)

Beatles - Come Together

Guns of brixton - The clash

Only if you want 20 different correct answers as the bass line is a classic reggae rift used by many Reggae artists and a fair few pop including Beats International, Dub be good to me.

For The Stranglers, Peaches, surely?

jefferson Airplanes White rabbit is a classic and pretty well known and recognisable

Thanks for all the suggestions - some great ones in there.

Would like some newer ones though as it's for an Office quiz so be a bit unfair if it's just older stuff. Looking for stuff post 2005 please.
