Going to be difficult to define a fake profile
My profile is indeed fake.
From 90 degrees I am essentially invisible, but if I told you how we beings live in your 3 dimensional space when we were born in 4 dimensional space, then I'd have to leave as I would have spoiled the mission.
What u mean people actually put there real profiles online? That's just madness 😆
Cases would also follow if posts were indecent, grossly offensive or so false they caused distress and anxiety.
Watch out Orson Wells, with your fake reports of Martians, we're coming for you....
I am real and have the scars to prove it.
My forum names was given to me halfway down a trail in Wales before calling an ambulance.
I have been seen in real life by a number of other forum dwellers.
None of this stops me trolling occasionally when I get called bored or the forum seems quiet but I troll under this name.
I'm really not who you think I am, I am somebody else.

guidelines being proposed for prosecutors in England and Wales

It's a fair cop guv.
I'm not even a real panther.
I troll all the time; almost every post infact.
I would imagine the relevant word in this sentence is not 'fake', it's 'harass'. Which is already illegal. So a bit non-newsy really. The Crown Prosecution Service says adults should be charged if they use fake social media IDs to harass others.
BBC
Just bantz.
But there actually isn't any beer in my fridge!
Outed - I'm not actually a muffin. 😥

Are you me?
I'm not really Baloo.
Thats still no excuse for stealing all those picnic baskets.
I would imagine the relevant word in this sentence is not 'fake', it's 'harass'
I think we're also confusing 'anonymous' with 'fake'. A fake profile is where you try to pass a profile off as someone else's - make it identifiably someones profile, not make a profile unidentified.
I'm not even a real panther.

My real name is Wayne Bruce. AKA MANBAT.
I'm not even retro, just dated. 🙁
I have a face book profile under the name Danielle Minogue (long story)
I am not the less talented sister of the well known diminutive antipodean songstress.
Please can someone smuggle me a phone in when I get banged up?

Not fast,not a haggis.
I am not as useful as actual molgrips.
I would imagine the relevant word in this sentence is not 'fake', it's 'harass'. Which is already illegal. So a bit non-newsy really.
You probably ought to read the rest of the article:
However, the guidance also sets out less serious situations where prosecutions should be considered under a fourth category: where a false identity is used to post upsetting messages, including false information that could cause anxiety.
Prosecutors say, particularly in this category, a balance must be struck between a decision to charge someone and the need to defend freedom of speech, - including "banter" and the "posting of unpopular opinions".
(and mogrim's not my real name! 😯 )

Like when you eventually realise that the "lady" you've been flirting with online turns out to be wielding a full set beneath "her" virtual skirt?
