America may not have started all the fires, but they did start some and poured petrol on plenty of others.
I can't think of a specific example, but given how much of the planet has been narrated about by the likes of David Attenborough et al, then I feel I can confidently assert, as fact, that the sound of the common fox is certainly not at all the "one sound that no one knows".
Obviously the remaining lyrics of What does the fox say by Ylvis are purely speculative and written by a song writer who has never knowingly heard a fox. So as much fun as it might (or might not) be those lyrics cannot be part of any fact checking mission.
“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal’s office. And in other news…”
They're called Inuit, you insensitive bastard.
Not any more.
First nations! Inuit are one of the first nations
We are the Priests
Of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers
Fill the hallowed halls
NO priests, and computers do not need to fill halls - ever.
There is no dark side of the moon. I refuse to listen to that song until they fix it.
I had to fact check this statement as I was confused. After quickly reading relevant sections on the Sky at Night I would say the dark side is a synonym for the far side, in which case the statement (and title of the referenced article) is merely misleading rather than false. I have long took the dark side to mean the side of the moon which is never viewable from the Earth, I'd unfortunately never spent the time to know it wasn't always dark round there (which is bleedingly obvious now the fact has entered my knowledge).
Perhaps you should just listen to the half the song, or, the full song at barely audible volume?
Other moons are available.
and computers do not need to fill halls - ever.
Ah, but they used to! Have you seen photos of the earliest mainframe computers? Vast things with a few Mb of memory.
1960’s…

There is no dark side of the moon. I refuse to listen to that song until they fix it.
Dark side of the moon isn't a song, it's the album title. Pedant mode enabled
computers do not need to fill halls - ever.
Lolol okay, if you say so.
Ah, but they used to!
They still do, hyper scale AI server centres.
Other moons are available.
There is only one.... 'The moon'.
Not read the whole thread, so apols if this has already been pointed out, but surely not EVERYONE was kung foo fighting?
This is Inditex's server room...
From: https://www.osmos.es/porfolio/cpd-inditex-laracha/
(Inditex: the parent company of clothing company Zara + others)
I've not been in this one, but I've been in quite a few Spanish ministry server rooms, and they are indeed (freezing cold) halls filled with computers.
I've travelled this old world of ours from Barnsley to Peru
I've had sunstroke in the arctic and a swim in Timbuktu
I've seen unicorns in Burma and a yeti in Nepal
And I've danced with ten-foot pygmies in a Montezuma hall
I've met the king of China and the working Yorkshire miner
But I've never met a nice South African
[Chorus]
No, he's never met a nice South African
And that's not bloody surprising, man
'Cause we're a bunch of arrogant bastards...
Oh scrub that... it's pretty factual actually, except for a working Yorkshire miner.
Nice to see this thread resurrected!
Sorry Vanessa, I think you've fundamentally misunderstood orbits; regardless of your frame of reference, the sun literally _never_ goes round the moon.
Also, someone mentioned Guns'n'Roses earlier. Are the two criteria for paradise 1) attractive girls, 2) grass is normal colour?
Welcome to the jungle:
the Jungle was a pub in leith immortalised in trainspotting IIRC. I doubt they had been to leith. the pub did have "fun and games"
Pink - "So What? I am a Rock Star"
No, you are a middle aged pop singer, now calm down
The leaves are not all brown, neither is the sky grey.
Missy Elliott 'One Minute Man' I'm fairly sure the line where Ludacris claims to 'balance & rotate all tires' isn't true. I doubt he even balances & rotates all his own tires tbh.
He has staff for that!
Not read the whole thread, so apols if this has already been pointed out, but surely not EVERYONE was kung foo fighting?
You clearly weren't alive in the 70s, shit was wild back then.
The leaves are not all brown
It might companion advice to warnings about yellow snow.
And I swear that I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun
OMG you are bad 😆
From the same era, I think it's become clear now that Ian Brown was not the resurrection.
Ok OK! I have been fact checked to death!
Did the beatles really know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall?
Probably to distract from the fact that chinese crippled their women by binding their feet so tight to make their Lotus feet look beautiful - or to stop them running away. What an incredible album that was. Or as a mate once said, they could get away with singing like that in those days"I hear that the Emperor of China used to wear iron shoes with ease"
"Working all week in the noonday sun"
Lazy sod, just works a few minutes a day then calls it quits.
Did the beatles really know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall?
No, but 'they' did.
Makes you think.
I once sat wasting time in an exam at school working out how many holes were in the exam room - or rather in the acoustic tiles. Of course I didn't count them all, I used a bit of arithmetic to calculate the number of tiles, counted the rows and columns of holes in a typical tiles, etc...
So I knew how many holes it took to fill the assembly hall. I forget now.
Thunder doesn't only happen when it's raining.
Nor lightning, which can come out of a clear blue sky. This I know to be a fact, because I witnessed it once, in Colorado. Came as quite a surprise, not least to the poor sod who was struck walking across a car park.
Never did find out what happened to him.
"Wherever I hang my hat, that's my home"
I think you'll find that the conveyancing process is a little more complex than that.
I dunno, there was that Greek bloke, lived in a barrel…
The leaves are not all brown, neither is the sky grey.
They might have been wherever the writer was at the time, which wasn’t the California he was dreaming about.
“I’m strong to the finish, cos I eats me spinach” (Popeye).
Well, unless we see the money shot, that’s just empty rhetoric.
Well, unless we see the money shot, that’s just empty rhetoric.
He demonstrated it in every episode.
"Oh, sometimes I get a good feeling, yeah
Get a feeling that I never, never, never, never had before, no, no
I get a good feeling, yeah"
Etta James (later sampled by Avicii)
Assuming we are talking about the same good feeling throughout, given that it is felt multiple times ("sometimes" not "one time"), on the second and subsequent occasions said feeling is got, it is not a feeling that she never, never, never, never had before.
Maybe there have been several occasions on which she has had a good feeling she never had before, but a different one.
I DON'T remember the dormouse saying "feed your head".
No no, no no, no no, no no, no no, no no there's no limits
Yes there are
I can’t believe everyone was Kung Fu Fighting....there must be some pacifists amongst us.
Maybe there have been several occasions on which she has had a good feeling she never had before, but a different one.
I accept this is a possibility, but the fact that she initially refers to "a good feeling" suggests that there is only one good feeling being referenced, rather than a range of disparate ones, each being experienced uniquely. It is at best imprecise and ambiguous and I think we should expect a greater level of clarity in our popular songs.
When the devil went down to Georgia he was not looking for a soul to steal, he was looking for a soul he could acquire through winning a bet / contest.
We do need education. But it is true we don't need thought control.
If we're being pedantic, and surely if ever a thread demanded pedantry it is this one, the double negatives tell us that Pink Floyd (and the children of Islington Green School) think we do need education, but also that we do need thought control.
Also, and unrelated, we do not all need somebody to lean on. Many of us can balance unaided.
Has anyone mentioned that at Waterloo Napoleon did not surrender?
