I'm an admin on a Facebook group page. Just this last week we've had a huge increase in membership requests from overseas- mainly the Philippines. The applications show no relevance to the topic but otherwise look legit.
Spurious or have we just had some promo in south-east Asia somewhere? Enquiries as to why of the individuals themselves are unanswered

They're spam bots, we used to get loads, name was usually a give away but profile usually nails it.
