George was very mature on his post race interview. Basically, I’ve got nowt to lose and I’m up the inside on cold tyres, why risk it. Just wait a few laps and get the place back on DRS. Which is exactly what happened.

I had a feeling last seasons Verstappen was a mask, and surely it is. If Liberty weren’t chuckling about the sensationalist headlines he creates, he should be penalise for brining the sport into disripute - it’s not a role model for youngsters.

So an open admission from a Team Manager that hid driver is probably capable of physical violence and is definitely likely to find revenge on the track, without any hint of managing the situation from Horner himself.
This kind of stuff needs to be sanctioned / actioned upon before someone get unnecessarily hurt. Why isn't F1 stepping in? Oh I forgot, headlines = $$$$$ which is more important these days.

We’d have more Max/George type stuff and less ‘I’ll just wait for the DRS zone’ stuff. George knows he can’t outdrag the Red Bull so his only chance was get ahead and hope he could keep Max behind with some crafty driving (like LeClerc did).
F1 have no problem changing the whole format of a race weekend at the last minute so why not try a weekend with no DRS.
And if the cars were smaller, lighter and more nimble they’d have both got through that corner fine! 😀
I completely agree it would have been more boring if he’d backed out. However, if he’d boxed clever and thought more than 1 apex ahead maybe he would have been further up the order without a banged up motor.
DRS definitely needs looking at more generally though. Far far too powerful. I think they said they’d reduced the size of the zone at Baku? But they’re just playing round the edges at the moment.
I’m hoping LeClerc can keep his cool today/not bottle it and his team makes the right strategy calls.

Aye went stale about half distance.. only thing keeping me awake was shouting at Perez to stop kissing the walls! Had me on tenterhooks.
That pass was the pass that killed F1. Rules will need changing. Again. I thought DRS was on the way out precisely because cars were now designed for closer racing. Apparently not. And yes, I fell asleep.
As much as I’m a fan of F1, I refuse to pay for it as 1.) it’s expensive and 2.) the highlights usually mean that someone’s done the hard work for me and found the best bits and edited out the rest.
To add to the above - on nights like tonight the 6mins YouTube highlights are probably more than enough
So sad for my F1 history. Early 2000's I used to be knackered after watching races, so intense, especially with Murray's commentary. I watched today's race in the garage playing pool and darts with the grandkids and it was all a bit...meh.

Lec on his day is really quite something, sadly those days are not every weekend. I think this is why he is likely to never be a world champion. I think had Ferrari got a stronger lineup then last season they would have fought RB a lot harder.
There's rumours that Mercedes are lining Leclec up to take over when Hamilton retires. If they can build a car that'll take on the RB, that'll be worth watching.

I’d not have Leclerc - just too many unforced errors. And Russell would wipe the floor with him. Current Ferrari line-up lacks aggression IMO. Sainz = Bottas v2.
If Hamilton retires sooner than later I’d make Russell defacto No.1 and pop Albon in the other seat as Merc don’t seem have another Russell in the pipeline.
Leclerc is a spectacularly good qualifier. Ferrari haven't given him a car capable of mounting a title challenge but it's not for lack of trying on his part. If he had a car as good as the Red Bull or the best Mercs, I think you'd see him crashing much less because he wouldn't have to drive on the limit so much. I'm pretty sure any team on the grid would be thrilled to sign him, he's an absolutely top driver. Hamilton will retire sometime in the next few years and I think Leclerc and Norris would have to be very high on Merc's list of potential replacements. They will want to hire the best driver they can get and those two, plus Verstappen, are the standouts.

Leclerc has 19 pole positions and five race victories. Verstappen has 22 pole positions and 37 race victories. Sainz has three pole positions and one race victory. Leclerc has been outperforming his car.

But has max realised that he doesn't have to overtake everyone at any opportunity (and risk damage) when he can just use neweys DRS rocket assist a few corners later. His approach to the first 2 laps will be interesting as he's starting right in the carnage zone - too far back to hope for a bit of space and not far enough forward to avoid getting nerfed by someone at the tail end trying a glory move.
