Granted, I've only tried on one occasion, but I was unsuccessful.
What is the procedure for getting one's music off an old iPod and onto a computer's hard drive for re-use elsewhere?

It has app to copy stuff to ipod and another to copy off

I've used Senuti for this in the past successfully. The free 30 day/1000 song trial might ber enough for you.
