Way OT

Anyone else been using Etymotic earphones? Have had ER4-P for years, just changed the filters again but they sound like they have blown.....very tinny, lost the bass.

Do they just wear out after a while or can they be serviced and saved?

Is it possible the cable's pulled? As in, while the housing is intact, the cables inside have parted sufficiently to lose the bass connection?

I've had a slightly ropey connection on my hf5s for a while, but in fairness it's because I bashed the ridiculous straight plug early on sufficiently that it semi-broke. Idiotic design, hamfisted user.

I've got a pair of ER6i's with custom eartips, and they are pretty bass light, even from new. Could be a pulled wire, they're not the heaviest wires around.
