The film covering the discover of the Endurance wreck is released at various cinemas on the 14th October. Looks to be sold out in quite a few places but you might get lucky.

If you're interested in this sort of thing I'd suggest reading up on the last voyage of the Karluk (eg The Ice Master by Niven). The persistence and determination of Bartlett and co is remarkable though he took some criticism after the event.

Anyone know if there's any remaining evidence of the crew's hut on the beach at Elephant Island? Or has it all been swept away by storms in the last 100 years?

I'll keep this short as I don't want to derail the thread but whilst we're on the subject of naval expeditions, I read a book called The Wager by David Grann recently and it was brilliant.

Anyway, carry on.

With some time to do a bit of googling, I've just answered my own earlier question. Joint Services Expeditions in the early 1970s found nothing at the site of Shackleton's camp. All gone, probably unsurprisingly.

I think I saw that a couple of months after release in the cinema, it will be available on Apple tv.

Finally got to watch this on Disney+. May be available on other platforms. Really enjoyed it. I thought they would show more of the wreck, but the story is tremendous. I had a basic grasp of the story but this expanded on what I knew. Definitely recommended!
