Going to edinburgh with the other half in may for the weekend and looking for a hotel. Tried premier inn and travelodge but both sold out. Can anyone recommend somewhere half decent that doesnt cost a fortune.

Maybe try Jury's Inn - near Waverly.
Or one of the Apex Hotels - sometimes have weekend deals. Grassmarket one is nicer imo.
I stopped at the Ballantrae on York place off St Andrews square 2 weeks ago, £70 a night for me and mrs. Nowt flash, but we had a cracking four poster bed and room with great views across the Forth.
Kings Manor at Mussleborough is very nice.
