I'm buying something off ebay for the mrs, and on the listing there's a phone number for offers. I texted the bloke and we agreed on a price, but he's left the item on ebay and it looks like he's going to let it end and see if anyone bids more than we agreed on.

Is this fair enough, or is he a bit of a shirt front?

unless you buy through ebay itself it's all a bit dodgy. Buy it now or auction.

Have you paid him yet? I usually leave the auction running until I get the actual money in my hand.

Didn't do that a few days ago, someone offered cash for a bike and he seemed very keen so I ended the auction, then he mailed the day later to say his wife wouldn't let him buy it.

I can't believe he told his wife, that should always be a surprise "Look what I've just got dear, it was so cheap I couldn't not buy it!!"

Fair points to be honest.
