Bought some duck eggs by accident! Any ideas what to do with them? Can you eat them just like chicken eggs?
i fend them a lot stronger tasting than chook eggs.
use them to make yorkshire pudds.
Make a cake
Soft boil em for breakfast - magnificent! They take a bit more cooking than chicken eggs though.
I'm with RobS on this, love em soft boiled.
Soft boiled all the time, no other way to fully appreciate!
Thanks guys. Going to try them with soldiers in the morn, failing that its cake time!
Soft Boiled and they're fantastic.
They make a nice omelette too.
yum duck eggs - as above - soft boil, or omlette. They also scramble very well - pretty much like any eggs.
I know some people who only use duck eggs when baking a cake - to the point that they have worked out a conversion ratio of hens eggs to duck eggs (as they are bigger).
Goose eggs are similar in flavour but have much stronger yellow and bigger yoke.
break them on your head whilst stood on a mini roundabout singing an aria?
I'm with Nutt on this one. It's the only sensible option.
Be careful - they can cause an allergy in some people.
People have allergies to hen eggs too, chances of someone being allergic to a food they've had are rather slim and if they are it will be a weak reaction the first time.
I have 6 Ducks and 10 hens. I don't find too much difference in the taste as all mine are free range organic and you just can't buy any in the Super market that taste the same.
The white on Duck eggs has a different texture if doing fried eggs.
I love mine in an Omelette or scrambled.
Also Duck eggs are the best for baking so you could make a nice sponge cake.
