We will be in touch
Somehow my other half has managed to drop our laptop. Damage appears to be limited to cracked case, and the headphones and power connector socket detached from the motherboard. Whilst the battery was alive she established that everything else worked. Without the power connector though, we can't charge up the battery or use mains power.
Is this sort of thing repairable or has she buggered it properly?
Best bet - find something on ebay the same but broken screen etc, and swap the insides over. I doubt you could get a replacement case. You can solder the power socket back on and the headphones.
I was actualy just about to post a question on This subject-ish.
i recently peplaced my laptop that a num nut mate of mine spilled a drink over.
The local place recons its just the keypad not the motherboard as comes on and loads up ect but sertain keys are stick on so its impossible to use currently....
i was gonna sell it for spares or repairs and its a really good item....
500 quid 3 years ago updated to windows 7 with loads of other stuff on it too like photoshop cs 3 ect.
are these companys that buy broken laptops ever any good to sell to or are they basically buying for buttons?
any help out there?
cheers Jae
Jae - if it's just the keyboard, it may be worth trying taking it (the keyboard) out and giving it a nice soak and wash in distilled water, followed by a few days drying, then popping it back in. Nothing to lose...
yeah cool. im looking for instructions to do it just now....seems very hard to crack the keyboard off! no mini torx bolts i sight!
cheers for the info theyEye!
Jae
Get a quote to fix it or use contents insurance if it is covered by accidents to laptops.
Sorted but the insurance will go up sometimes and compare this cost vs independent repair or new laptop.
yeah i bought a new laptop and its noticably better.
not insured tho zasker in any way.
goin to have an attempt at in in house fix (been reading up on 'how to do' websites) recon i can recondition and sell privately.
cheers all!
Spilt a drink on my lappy, keyboard ended up with stuck keys, others typing several letters at once. Got a new keyboard for £20 on ebay and replacing it was a 5 minute job.
