After a thermarest or Alpkit-type self inflating mattress but in double bed size. Does anyone know a decent version of such a thing?
Vango do em. 5cm thick, decent.
go outdoors £50. folds in half for double squish when you can't squish the missus! 😉

Looked for the same thing a few weeks back. Thermarest do this but it might cost more than your bed at home. We went for two of the new Alpkit Dozer mats in the finish, and a fitted sheet to link them together. Works better than expected, to be honest.
if you go down the 2 x singles route (which we're thinking of) then consider these as well as the Alpkit Dozer:

you'll find one that's double the size of a standard single thermarest but not the size of a genuine double bed. Machines that make really big matresses are not available. I emailed Alpkit about a year ago trying to find a 4-5ft wide one to cover the whole floor of a tent.
I plumped for the aerobed explorer (currently out of stock at Amazon, but £100 when they're in)
It's a full size double mattress, inflates in about a minute, and packs down to about the size of two 3/4 season thermarests, including the pump.
If you're car camping, it's perfect. as long as an extra few inches won't compromise your headroom (if you've got space for a full size double, it probably won't)
I spent 2 weeks camping in Norway with the gf with this and a vango equinox 350. I didn't want either of us to get tired of camping in a cramped tent and on thermarests that give me a bad back after 4 days. We went for the the fitted sheet, down duvet and proper pillows too. I still thought we'd bail to a hotel at some point, but it never seemed worth spending the extra when we were so comfy in the tent.
I heartily recommend the mattress and the tent.
