thinking of doing a 1 night camping trip at the weekend to enjoy this glorious weather. 2 layers of duck down should keep the missus warm!

anyone know a good campsite on the south coast e.g. around charmouth? i don't that area at all

something with no caravans, maybe a sea view and a nearby pub would be just the ticket!

cheers

Pete

There are a couple of campsites actually in Charmouth. One of them's a bit close to the A35, mind.

I recommend the site at Seatown. That's a couple of miles East of Charmouth and almost on the beach. You can walk up over Golden Cap, into Charmouth for a beer or a cup of tea, then back again for a nice day's walking. The site does have caravans, but they put tents in a separate field out the back (at least they did when I stayed there a few years ago). It's almost like wilderness camping but with a hot shower nearby 🙂

Seatown for sure, nice little pub down the lane & nice views in the morning/evening, as it's close to the coast.
There's Freshwater, a little east of there along the coast road, but it may be a bit commercial? Dunno, but at least it won't be overrun with families & kids yet at this time of year. 🙂

Tom's is miles & miles away from Charmouth, probably best part of about an hour infact!

Pete, yes that one; http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=1206.
I reckon as long as it's not too windy, it sounds ok. 🙂
