'Locked and loaded' FFS. Nothing like a bit of Vietnam draft-dodging to give you that gung-ho feeling.

Let's hope Donnie Jr and Eric have their heel spurs locked and loaded ready to deploy in case things really kick off.

some interesting stuff on r4, a correspondent was saying he talked to a US military strategist who had seen the plans for war/conflict with NK, apparently a conventional war turns nuclear very quickly to nullify NK bombardment of Seoul.

its all a bit pointless

the last thing that the fat one will do is risk his power base and the destruction of his regime

the last thing the orange one will do is fire nukes despite his need to look tough.

I expect another few months of increasingly deranged "diplomacy" with nothing happening at all despite the tough talking.

NK will be wiped out near instantly in any war conventional or otherwise.

I think he's hilarious. Especially when he's taking the piss out of some stupid religion or other.

Anyway - Trump. Eh? Nutter or what?

Ninfan has you all played. I've read quite a bit of the thread and I can't remember where he's actually said he supports trump, he just seems to be playing devils advocate by disagreeing with the majority. No one in their right mind would actually support the orange fool, but he seems to be taking great delight in winding up folks enraged by the POTUS.

Don't get me wrong, he's no DTF but he's done a pretty good job on here for 300+ pages...

Whilst I'm sure this is true, is isnt the biggest issue. With China asking them both to calm down, Germany also on that bandwagon and Japan shifting missle defences around, it's about who else gets involved and what happens next IMO.

The world's a small place. Light that particular fire and it could soon spread very quickly.

Yep what china does is more important

personally I think they like the buffer country between them and the west in South Korea so they would rather the regime prevail

How far they are willing to go to maintain this is the real question

Again i dont think even trump will attack first so it will just be endless posturing from two deranged mad men making ever increasing threats they wont carry out

Really? At the first hint of a strike a nothing to loose red button would decimate the top half of South Korea, it's been well documented that they have a vast amount of bunkers and shielded underground storage for weapons and troops.
NK has a very large conventional military and unless the US is happy to simply bomb them into oblivion with no regard for civilians it will be tough.

Then any remaining nuclear material can just be strapped to anything that flies.

So option B nuke NK - commit mass murder and annihilate civilians and those trapped under a brutal regime. To do that would endanger SK and China on the borders, along with the oceans around.

I can't see a simple and fast solution there.

I'm more inclined to think North Korea is a proxy for China, they like having a "lunatic" state to prod the US and let it know its not welcome in the region without actually having to do it themselves, quite handy I would have thought.

Imagine this whole thing turned around, with China setting up camp on our doorstep with airbases and bombers and whatever pointed our way.

(edit: there is no good start, middle or end to any conflict so best to take donalds phone away for while.)

Dear Mother,
Recently I had the opportunity to hire a large amount of government workers. I try to remember that as someone in a position of power, I lead God’s army. Unfortunately, mired in the paperwork of my new position, I accidentally approved the employment of a known homosexual. This man is so good at his job I accidentally overlooked his sexuality in the hiring process. The thought that I am paying an admitted sodomite chills me to the bone. Even throwing a football around the White House Rose Garden--I meant the lawn--isn’t fun anymore. My wife says if I do not fire this person I will go to hell. Mother may I...fire this deviant?
Sincerely,
[s]Mike Pence[/s] Mark Parts

Dear [s]Mike Pence[/s] Mark Parts,
If you want to find eternal bliss, you must fire this person. Not only are they infecting God’s earth in their spare time with their unacceptable behavior, but they are poisoning the saintly environment you are so carefully constructing. We are taught to love the sinner and hate the sin, but homosexuality is a dangerous choice made to taunt godly people. Reject it, and give this pinko the pink slip.
Love,
Mother

That's exactly right, what China doesnt want is a reunified Korea that's aligned with the US and the West, however, having a raving lunatic in charge isn't exactly helpful either.

Just started watching Games Of Thrones and within the first couple of episodes their have been two clues that Trump is a fan.

First off Jaime Lannister shook the hand of the 'barstard' and sharply pulled his hand towards him, which looked very like what Trump tries to do.

And then there was the Wall as well.

I'm encouraged by news that China has opened the door to there own sanctions with NK. It feels as though they are more on the side of averting an inident as not.

Hope this gives Kim the impression its not just the West or SK who think hes in the wrong...

There was a documentary named "Sand Wars" which is very interesting viewing regarding many cases that are blamed on climate change and sea level changes but in reality it is (still) mankind fault, but it is the removal of vast amounts of sand for making concrete:

https://videopress.com/v/hmxKgpG9

Might also have some relevance to Trumps infrastructure changes.

Well Amazon are taking the p1ss and I don't blame Trump for pointing this out.

Online retailer’s Luxembourg unit took £5.3bn sales from British internet shoppers, a rise of 14%, but Amazon.co.uk Limited recorded profit of just £34.4m

Amazon’s booming UK business paid just £11.9m of tax last year, while the online retailer’s Luxembourg unit took £5.3bn of sales from British internet shoppers without being subject to UK tax, according to company filings.

Some results in the HuffPost/YouGov poll conducted 14-15th August:

48% of the Trump voters polled said that the white nationalists at Charlottesville were either "mostly right" (11%) or "went too far, but they have a point" (37%).

68% of the Trump voters polled said that "there is a lot of discrimination against white people".

Only 3% of Trump voters polled think Trump personally supports white nationalism. Conversely only 3% of Clinton voters polled think he opposes it.

Shows some quite incredible divides between the Democrat and Republican voters. Seems pretty clear that Charlottesville is just a beginning 🙁

Trump and the Guardian managed to piss the wife off hard today. Trump has made references to Pershing killing Moro rebels in the Philippines using bullets dipped in pigs blood. The Guardians issue is that its a made up story and at the same time called those Filipinos "Islamic Militants".... you know... despite it being a war of aggression with colonialist intent waged against both Filipino Catholics and Moros. So yeah.... colonialism and glorification of genocide... fine... making shit up... string him up.

Interesting to see if breitbart turn on Trump now.

Either way not sure it'll stop trump from getting his info from crackpot right wing conspiracy theorists.

Something had to be done, trump's handling of the the Nazi thing & his response to the Spain attack looking properly bonkers.
3 of his advisory boards disbanded, trumpcare non-existent, chances of getting tax reform through now?
Meuller investigation gathering pace he' be in danger of his entire administration walking out!
