I see May has stopped defending him and finally made a meally mouthed condemnation of Trump's ridiculous policy.
It must be difficult for her because I'm pretty sure she'd leap at the opportunity to do exactly the same.
An order to Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to come up with a plan within 30 days to defeat so-called Islamic State
Wait, you mean that all we needed was a plan and the problem would have been solved?
The man really is as thick as two short planks.
Really Jamba? us military veterans have been denied entry despite having green cards. US government employees have been denied entry despitehaving green cards.
It quite rational
😯
So jambalaya, if you had relatives in a foreign country would you be happy if they couldn't visit you. Also how many people in the US have been killed by terrorists from the banned countries?
Madeline Albright a real hawk of a republican has condemned it unreservedly and has said she will register as a muslim and encourages everyone else to do the same. The daughter of Jewish refugees from Czechoslovakia.
It quite rational that just because one person is in the US that their whole extended family does not have a right to visit the US
But he has also banned entry to anyone from those countries even if they have a visa/permanent residence or green card.
It's also not legal to use country of origin as a basis for immigration selection in the US and even transiting through.
A vet from Glasgow says she is "upset" and "afraid" after being prevented from flying to the US under President Donald Trump's executive order barring people from several Muslim countries.
Hamaseh Tayari, who holds an Iranian passport, had been due to fly home from a holiday in Costa Rica via New York.
But she has been told she cannot fly to the USA because of the order.
The American president said the measures would "keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the US".
The 90-day travel ban affects nationals from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Whats he going to work out in 90 days? That nobody from one of those countries has perpetrated an act of terrorism in the US or that the last people who did came form Saudi etc ie the places he has [s]important business dealings with[/s] no security fears about.
jambalaya - MemberTrump said he would impose restrictions "until we figure out what is going on"
It seems reasonable if he can't figure out what is going on.
"It's also not legal to use country of origin as a basis for immigration selection in the US and even transiting through."
I don't doubt it but can you cite your source.
It seems reasonable if he can't figure out what is going on.
The fact that it's likely to become a permanent ban is probably the most worrying element, and really a poor excuse for establishing it in the first place.
akira - MemberAlso how many people in the US have been killed by terrorists from the banned countries?
To be fair trump did say that he doesn't know what's going on, apparently he'll have a better idea after 90 days.
Give the man a chance to find out what's going on.
Can't find the article, was on the other computer a bit earlier today though I will post if I can find it.
Anyway quick summary of Trump's business dealings with the countries not on the list

Loving reading the increasingly absurd defences, by his apologists, of Trumps absurd behaviour. Keep it up boys! Sad.
My only concern, other than chekwk's silence, is whether this bombastic act is being done purely to distract or water down the reaction to what is coming.
Jamie - I doubt he is that clever personally. Those with personality disorders have no idea how normal folk think and anything they say, do or think is always right in their eyes.
The thing is Ernie he should be listening to the people who do know what's going on instead of the motley crew of racists and mentalists he's surrounded himself with.
Can't wait till he comes to meet the queen
It'll nicely tarnish the Windsors as well as our PM as she fawns over him
And there may be the odd protestor too!
Jamie - I doubt he is that clever personally.
Chewwy? He very clearly craves attention, I am staggered by how willingly people are prepared to give it to him, and how seriously many people are in their responses.
Manipulating people to that level requires a certain level of intellectual skill imo.
At least someone in the US has a grasp of their own constitution.
Chewwy? He very clearly craves attention, I am staggered by how willingly people are prepared to give it to him, and how seriously many people are in their responses.
Or they're poking him with a stick when bored.
Chewwy?
No, Trump.
Chewkwk is purely a comedic foil for this thread. Which is not to disregard an opposing point of view as comical, but he is obviously contrary just for the sake of it.
Can't wait till he comes to meet the queen
You wait until he finds out just radicalise the UK has become. Police no go Muslim areas in UK cities, as Trump helpfully informed the world during his election campaign? The Queen doesn't even wear a crown anymore preferring a hijab instead.
My mummy's tummy...
Yay! This thread needed some momentum 🙂
remember this lesson young padawan for one day you will meet ninfanbut he is obviously contrary just for the sake of it.

Who voted for Trump?
Which candidate "understood" normal folk better?
What is populism all about?
Who is the "clever" one?
Which candidate "understood" normal folk better?
Did he actually understand anything? Or was he in the right place at the right time?

Not sure about comedic but it'd be boring if we all just agreed all the time.
I have no doubt at all that Trump is highly intelligent. I'm not qualified to comment on his mental health but it sounds reasonable to suggest that he has some sort of personality disorder.
EDIT: To be clear by highly intelligent I'm not suggesting he is a "genius", I'm thinking more the level of intelligence which perhaps 25-33% of the population have.
Teamhurtmore, more people voted for Hillary, trump has a golden toilet, also he's an idiot. More questions? And if you're asking why he's an idiot I'm basing it on what he does and what he says which seems like a fair way to make a judgement.
so which candidate managed his first week without being slapped down in court... first of many I think
He undertood how to play the game and how to use social media. The result was extremely ugly but remarkably effective. As appaling as Trump is, merely dismissing him is crass stupidity in its own right.
It's important to underhand how the serial BSers are succeding and why - Trump, Btexshiteers, Scot nats* - in order to effectively counter this dark development of post truth politics.
* obviously they take it too far and get caught with their pants down, but same principle.
It's not Trump I'm worried about, Pence and Bannon with any power is frankly a terrifying thing.
Correct Aira more people did vote for Hillary, true. So what. The rules of the game are different.
My question was about so-called "Normal people" (whatever that means? )
The irony of the phrase when applied to people who voted for Trump is delicious
teamhurtmore - MemberAs appaling as Trump is, merely dismissing him is crass stupidity in its own right.
And was instrumental in helping win the presidential election.

You missed out the obvious one......the Tories.
Or were you only listing people who you disagree with?
Weak effort Ernie, they or at least many of them are in the second category. Obviously unless you are simply one of the normal folk.....? 😉
I made no effort at all, I simply pointed out that obvious bullshitters are Tory governments. It was incredibly easy to do and required no effort.
yip, which is why the noise and general tabloidism surrounding Trump bother me so much.Jamie - Member

This shit getting still getting trotted out... 🙁 He's running rings round everbody.
What links The Queen, this pic, and Donald Trump
I've no idea, but it makes you think
I made no effort at all
Clearly
Joe, some shit never changes!
