We will be in touch
And if they do, can you recommend a nice, cheap, secure one that has a good range?
if your router is capable, then a high gain aerial would be my first, inexpensive, port of call.

How do you know if it's capable Stoner? Would something like this fire my signal out to the back garden then?
another tack to take is a range extender.
Ive tried two, the first was shite, this has been pretty good:

I live in an L-shaped barn with very thick walls and the router is located at one end of the "L".
dd - I doubt it*. All it does is improve the gain on your existing wifi output.
*but for a couple of quid there's no harm having a go
If your router has an external aerial that can be unscrewed then something like that hi-gain aerial can add some range.
to really get some penetration the repeater is a good idea (just needs power connection).
If you want to rig up an outside office, then you can try either:
cat 5 cabling
"homeplug" network system if within range
wifi external repeater that sends a focussed signal between two points.
... or add an additional access point if you can get some Cat 5 into the area where you need access. You can pick up some models on Amazon for less than £20
This one has power over ethernet, which is quite handy:
