Plastic or metal?

Junior Hacksaw works OK on small plastic stuff, or you can buy dedicated shears. Mitre saw with a fine blade if you're into complete overkill.

Metal - I've used hacksaws, nibblers, battery powered bandsaws (GREAT toy), anglegrinders and chopsaws before, depending on location of work and availability of the above.

I use a hacksaw on plastic. Bit of emery cloth if you want to tidy the end up afterwards.

Thanks for replying. It's plastic and I might just have a junior hacksaw in my tool box!

Sandpaper

wet and dry, sandpaper, even a file. Just somethign to take the 'rough edge' off any of the ends that may be visible.

Wire wool works quite well on kitchen waste pipe which is the same type of plastic.
