We will be in touch
After a bit of an email tussle this morning I thought I'd do some research and it made for interesting reading. This may be common knowledge but just in case others are just as much in the dark as I was...
In a nutshell:
You have the right to cancel within seven working days. Early notification of your intention is the key here.
All costs relating to the purchase should be refunded, including delivery costs. This applies to any return, not just where it's damaged, not as described etc.
Companies making a statement that they won't refund carriage charges if you change your mind has no legal weight as it goes against the principles of the DSR.
And the big one...You're entitled to a full refund immediately after notification and before the company receives the returned goods. Obviously if they don't receive the goods, they're entitled to re-charge you.
The full detail is found under oft.gov.uk, just in case my interpretation is incorrect..
Feeling pretty empowered right now, in an internet context at least!!
I've had to email and quote the DSR to numerous companies to receive a refund of the postage cost. If you don't pull them up they just keep it.
