We will be in touch
I'm responsible for the "IT" at my children's day care, (its a parent cooperative), and the teachers are saying that the digital cameras they use are too slow when taking pictures.
If the cameras are relatively modern am I right that this is mainly a consequence of the memory card not the actual camera? Therefore a potential memory card upgrade could speed up the capture of images?
Probably not. What camera is it? The shutter speed and general processing response will determine the speed of the camera. *Most* compact point and shoot digitals will have a delay between button press, focus and taking of the photo - only a DSLR/SLR will overcome that issue, a pro-sumer camera may also.
Arha, thanks, not sure of the models.
It was more of a general query in hope that the purchase of new cameras was not needed.
So far I've owned three compacts and one DSLR. The newest compact & DSLR are pretty much instantaneous between shutter button & exposure, while the older cameras were not.
I don't think it is a memory card issue as the same cards are still in use - I've tended to stick to Olympus cameras and 3 out of 4 of the above cameras use the XD card format.
Good info ^ thanks
A slow memory card just causes a delay before you can take next shot
It's usually the focussing that causes the biggest delay. Try prefocussing (holding the shutter button half way down) before taking the pic. It should be much more responsive.
are they taking indoor shots without flash, this will slow down the shutter speed as the auto setting on the cam will keep the shutter open for longer to get more light in and cause blurry pics and make the cam more "hand shake" sensitive
