We will be in touch
Hi
I gave up smoking a month or so ago, in that time I have run my first half marathon which took me just over 2 hours, and as my longest previous run was 10 miles I did struggle with the distance a bit.
I have now signed up for a full marathon in 3 months and I need to train for that, but as well as that I am doing the Oxfam 100k Trailwalk in the middle of July (six weeks after the marathon) where I am in a team who are planning to half walk and half run the event. I am also getting married in September and need to look good for that.
I am thinking I will hit the free weights 3 times a week, one day chest/shoulders, one day back, and one day arms. Run 6-7k 3 times a week at lunchtime, do a load of situps everyday. And then alternate at weekends between either a long walk or a long run with increased distances each time to train for the 2 events.
Does this sound like a good way to go about things, or should I concentrate purely on running until the marathon is out of the way and just give myself 6 weeks to get ready for the walk?
I know it all sounds a bit manic but since i've stopped smoking I am now addicted to excercise instead
Steve
