I'm trying to delete old issues from the newsstand app to free up space, how do I do it? Apparently I can tap the issues and select delete but tapping just opens them.

Delete the app, then reinstall and download the issues you want?

Sorted. Open app, click library > edit. Click on ones you want to delete then done.
