I thought it meant 'damned near perfect or new condition'.
But from what I constantly see must mean that most new items come scratched/chipped/grazed/scuffed straight from the box?
Should there be on the spot fines for people abusing the word 'mint'?
i read it as meaning you could not tell it from a new item.
Who /what has wronged you.
It is as it would be straight out of the box.
As they said - should be unmarked and almost impossible to tell it been used
It should be like a new coin that's just come out of the mint 🙂
mint condition is a 'whole mint' with 'NO hole' in the middle as in 'polo mint'
Not even taken out of the box. Then again I was a vinyl geek who wouldn't even remove the record from the sleeve, not even once, just to maintain its mintness.
"As mint" would be very good condition.
same goes for 'as new'. stupidly ambiguous to mean anything from 'brand new' to 'i've used it for a while, given it a good polish with some pledge and put it in the classifieds to mis-sell as 'as new''
hang on thats wrong... A whole mint with NO hole in the middle as in Trebor mint..... is that correct now... 😉
It should be like a new coin that's just come out of the mint
This.
But then some eBay sellers seem to have a completely different meaning! Best is when they describe the item as 'mint', then go on to list all the damage! Or minty! Minty? You licked it?
Worked with a mate for a while selling s/h cams. 'Mint' meant a cam which was indistinguishable from a brand new one, more or less. Shouldn't show any signs of actual use.
Mint condition I take to mean taken out of its packaging to check over, decide it's not wanted after all, fingerprints cleaned off and put back into packaging. As new I take to mean still in the unopened packaging.
Very good condition, not new but very close to it!
A specific direction related to my wife's bottom.
Mint means indistinguishable from new. Nothing less.
Otherwise it's just 'excellent condition'.
I've bought camera lenses that were described as 'very good' and were in fact mint - bit weird but there you go 🙂

Yeah, like he says, with a hole in it.
