I'm struggling here, hoping the combined wisdom of stw can help. I'm after some decent running shorts, as my current ones (Nike) are knackered and coming apart. Thing is, I'm not keen on: tiny shorts, lycra or those really thin silky ones that give you no warmth at all - I want some slightly thicker ones, but can't find any.

Any pointers/ recommendations? Ta

Check out the shorts on here: http://www.runandbecome.com/shop/running-clothing/men/shorts/ . Can't find the Nike ones I normally go with, but there's a range of options there.

I go for Decathlon lycra or Linebreak compression shorts under a pair of cheap Umbro baggies (from SportSoccerWorld or whatever it's called).

No chaffing thanks to the lycra, pockets and things kept respectable thanks to the baggies.

Gore Running Wear Reaction Shorts sound like they will hit the spot.

I found Decathlon's cheapest, greyest, baggiest running shorts to be more than adequate.
