as above, anyone any tips on where best to park and what to ride while we're there...
gonna pop over in the morning for a few hours, up for riding anything,
seen the 4x track and northshore on youtube so will be heading for that, but dont mind 6-7 mile or so of xc to burn off the christmas dinner..!

6-7 miles is tricky.
red route is great but is 22miles.
best option would be park near dixons hollow, cycle 2nd half of red route, then take a forest track uphill back to dixons hollow to collect the car.

that sounds good, is there a visitors centre or summit to grab a map of some description..?
might even call in the bike shop in pickering as they might have something

yes....follow the road in from the admissions kiosk.
About a mile in (downhill) you get to the bottom carpark and main visitor cente...maps can be had from there.
If you follwo the road past the visitor centre...theres onlt one! and keep going then dixons hollow and the other carpark is at the summit.

The visitor centre is at lowest altitude, dixons hollow is at the summit.

Head up to Dixons Hollow for a play, though some of the bits there are closed, then head round the world cup route for a nice 6.5km bit of fairly techy xc stuff. You can loop off this for the biggest downhill of the black route too.

Hey davski, Any advice/ reviews? one n00b to another? I'm planning on going next friday with a friend, neither of us have been before. What did you reckon to the above loop suggestions? Enough xc involved? I ideally wanna do a couple hours xc then playabout on the 4x and north shore.
How well sign posted are the routes?

Cheers.
