We will be in touch
We at Velocake are going to get to the continent for a couple of cross races.Does anyone know if we would need a B/C licence.Or any other info would be appreciated.jm.
Yes you do. You need to buy a Silver or Gold membership from BC and a Racing Licence. Once you've got all that (it'll clear the system in 24hrs), you then need a Dispensation to Race Abroad form which gets emailed to you as a PDF.
BC Membership - 0161 274 2010
and you'll have to pay additional day insurance (10 euro or so) as part of your entry fee..
Where & when are you going to race?
Yep, yes indeed you do.
We don't know for shure yet but sometime in January,it will be colder then.Hoping to get the whole team over there. Thanks for the info.jm.

Most CX races in Belgium are free to enter cos they're all sponsored. With BC insurance and the Dispensation you don't need to pay any excess insurance either, you're already covered.

good luck with the freebie from here in Belgium 😉
I've not seen many free races either. The Elite races actually pay riders to race but you'll have to be a bit handy to get in these.
It depends on the cat of rider/race most B crosses are around €8 but then €5 back when you hand your number back.
I've never paid a day licence for insurance though, you need a "Belgian Card" which will cost you a one off fee of €5 at the 1st race you do then you just need to produce it along side your BC Licence as you sign on.
As mentioned above you'll also have to have a dispensation to race abroad form although I've only been asked for it once.
Enjoy.
The Belgian card is your affiliation to the cycling union (wielerbond) which extends your BC coverage to Belgium (as far as I understand)
OT: Does anyone over there watch the internet TV coverage of the Belgian SuperPrestige race series?
Great idea jm.
I used to go over and race road in the late 70s and early 80s. We got so well looked after, extra breakfast and bikes in the bedrooms.
You will be a Flandrian hardman!

Ooh. Didn't know you could. Got any links? I went to Hamme-Zogge last year in the snow - such good fun!

I have never tried it personally but they were going on about it a couple of weeks back when rider Bart Wellens was training in Spain whilst recovering from sickness. They phoned him up during the race & he was watching the coverage on-line so could give his comments on the race.
Should be linked on the day from www.vt4.be
I'll try it next weekend & report back if anyones interested.

Ace. It would be great to see some Belgian cross on TV.
