Angle grinder or circular saw?

I have both and have only used and angle grinder previously but these slabs are 900mm long and need cutting in half cleanly for a wall topping.

Can you use a circular saw?

Blade appropriate for both of course

Ta

If you have a lot to do, maybe something like this...

I'd use an angle grinder with a diamond disk. Ideally a 9". Clamp a piece of plywood to the top and run the disk along the edge for a straight cut. Noisy and dusty job

I’ve done it both with a grinder and a diamond blade mounted to my TS55 track saw, in 20mm porcelain. If your hand is steady then the grinder is probably better with a thin blade, is dusty as all hell though. I have a Festool grinder that runs on the track with dust extraction now...

Sthil Saw with diamond blade and water kit, do you know any builders?

I did 3m of patio with a 115mm grinder and it was fine. Not worth hiring a proper tool, just get a diamond disc.

What Toomba said. Probably cost £50 (+vat) to hire one for the weekend. Easy, tidy, safe. You will be coughing and snootting dust for days without the water and your neighbours cars and windows will all need cleaning.

Whatever you use, wear a proper mask.

For 20mm sandstone slabs I used an Aldi cordless mini circular saw with a diamond disk.

I marked the cut with a pencil line and just followed it. Absolutely no need to go all the way through, just place in a straight edge and tapped; the stone broke easily along the cut. I then tapped along the edge with a ball peen hammer to replicate the fettled edge.

Oh, and as mentioned, wear a good mask.

I took mine to a local stone merchant to cut, they cut to precision with water. Whatever it cost it was a bargain as the cut side can be seen...stone topping on garden wall.

They actually don't like cutting other people's stuff but I knew someone who gives them a lot of work who arranged it for me.

Depends on purpose ...
I've done both ... limestone paving slabs I used the saw because its way quicker.

Diamond Blade straight through like butter and perfectly straight.
25mm Diorite worksurface mainly saw... except pipe cutouts drilled and angle grinder... (but you can see those) after cutting the worktops they we polished with diamond polishers from 50 to to 3000 grit and are mirror finished... I had to do the top after as the finish was better on the sides.

All done, I just bought a diamond cutting disc for the angle grinder, marked the line I needed.

With a half decent blade it’s amazing how easy it was to cut and keep straight.

Thanks for the help !
