That’s reassuring @BadlyWiredDog , have you had your first jab yet?
Yep, I had AZ five weeks ago today. Initial day-and-a-half of flu-like symptoms, then a day when I felt pretty good, but since then four weeks that have felt like I've regressed six months with reduced exercise tolerance, nausea and shakiness from computer time, weird adrenaline spikes. But seem to be pulling out of it now and getting back to my pre-jab baseline, maybe beyond and back to slow improvement bar some weird new occasional dizziness.
Quite a few long haulers have had a similar grumbly reaction, some - including two mates - have improved markedly after having the jab. Very few have worsened. And of course coincidence isn't causality, placebo effects etc. I guess it's not wholly unexpected if you give a slightly dysfunctional immune system a thorough terrier with rat shake-up. I think response is supposed to peak around four weeks post jab, so hopefully everything will calm down and my second jab will be less of a cluster 🙂
AZ on Thursday, no side effects. Was riding hard on Friday.
Hopefully not much longer until your first jab, @Ahsat, that long Covid headache sounds nasty!
Sounds like you had another rollercoaster ride @BadlyWiredDog, hopefully the upward trajectory will continue after that prolonged downturn.
That dull headache that started Saturday lunch got more intense yesterday despite painkillers, started to seriously think about calling 111 around 1700, but after using a cold press for ~10mins I got a bit of relief until bedtime.
Woke up randomly at 0400 for a while and finally crawled out of bed just before 0900, feeling groggy and I can feel the headache very mildly in the background, bit of same aches and pains in muscles and joints.
Need to decide if I'm fit enough to return to work tomorrow or get a sick note, far from a clear cut decision right now as postie shifts are far from easy during Covid.
Second Pfizer vaccine yesterday. The healthcare that administered the vaccine is the bloke you definitely want if you are needle phobic etc didn’t even feel it, had to look to see he’d given it to me.
No side effects worth mentioning apart from minor fatigue, slept most of the afternoon and only woke up to eat then early to bed, 14-16 hours of sleep.
Today just a very dull ache from vaccine site, and still feel a little tired but that might be the effects of the daily antihistamine I take to be honest.
Moderna last Tuesday.
Wednesday - arm felt dead; painful and very heavy. Almost as if it had a local anaesthetic, but with pain. Which is odd.
Thurday - all gone; back to normal
Since then, nothing.
Second AZ Saturday. For the first one I had 24 hours of feeling a bit rubbish, from midday the day after the jab.
No reaction to the second jab at all.
Hubby had Moderna last week. Bit of a sore arm, then 3 days later, he was really tired and had to go to bed. He's fine now.
Interesting regarding the thoughts that people who had C19 have bad side effects.
A good friend just had a few hours of chills and shaking after her jab and she's had the virus.
I definitely haven't had the virus but had the full list of side effects from Ox/AZ (except headache).
Nearly 4 days on now, and despite a pretty busy, physically active weekend with two pub sessions, I haven't felt any worse for wear. Guessing I would have done by now if I was going to? Counting myself pretty lucky.
i'm now 48 hours on from the az jab, symptoms got a bit worse yesterday as the day wore on, but nothing too bad, just felt like a hangover, went to bed early, woke up this morning all fine, so hopefully its now worked through my system and thats the end of it.
All in all - not too bad considering what some others have felt.
Guessing I would have done by now if I was going to?
Nope you've just entered the risk period for blood clots. People who get them are affected 3-14 days after vaccination depending on where you look. 3-10 days in this link:
Edit: I'm now 10 days in and nothing to report beyond mild fatique the day after the AZ jab (4h MTB might have had something to do with the fatigue). Madame had her AZ jab on Friday and spent most of Saturday in bed, she's fine now.
Mrs JP and I had AZ at Grasmere early on Saturday morning. I have felt fine other than a ache in the arm around the jab. Mrs JP went to bed at 8pm Saturday shivering with cold, at 10pm she was complaining of being too hot but got up and started shivering again. Up at 1am and felt dizzy but then pretty much fine in the morning. Hopefully that is us done but will keep a watch out for further symptoms.
Had the Pfizer last week (aged 39 in Wales) at lunchtime.
First evening i felt really quite pleasantly stoned it was great.
Next day felt fine, but that night had a bit of a fever when dropping off to sleep.
Following day felt normal again.
How have other long Covid STWers felt after the jab? From my awful memory @Tired @Ahsat
Had the AZ jab on the 6th. Crazy temp about 10 hours later including fingertips going numb and pins and needles all over my body. Paracetamol knocked it on the head after about 5 hours. Had a dead arm about 10 days later too which was odd.
The long covid is grumbling on, too early to say if there is a improvement or otherwise as it is a mercurial and totally unreliable illness at best.
I had my second pfizer jab yesterday at 12.30pm. I felt ok yesterday, woke up this morning aching heavy arm, banging head ache and aching head to to toe, flu like symptoms.
I had exactly the same symptoms with the first jab. The nurse told me that for most people the symptoms only last around 24 hours, but there are a small group of people who are suffering 2 to 3 days or more.
The first jab felt like it was a huge thick needle and hurt like hell. I didnt feel a thing with the second jab.
First AZ jab Sunday 4.30, went for a ride in the evening. woke at 4am very shivery/ aches and bizarrely balls of feet hurt when walking.
Fine by midday.
My 83 year old Mother had her second jab last Tuesday, 48 hours of feeling rough. Friday Saturday she was okay. Then yesterday, Sunday, shivering and unable to get warmed up, then it changed to being drenched in sweat last night. Phoned NHS 24 and she has had to go for a covid test today!
I had my first jab on Saturday (Pfizer) arm is a bit tender where the injection was, hoping that's the worst of it!
AZ today. Currently fine.
Madame has now come out in a rash of red pimples around her back, vaccinated last Friday.
AZ first on Friday. Started to feel very tired and a bit cold-y Friday evening. Woke up Saturday with zero energy and feeling like I had a very heavy cold. Energy slowly returned Sunday, just about enough to mow the lawn. Slept like a log with some funky dreams. At work today but found it really hard to focus on all but the most tedious tasks. Only now starting to feel like I'm recovering. Fit and healthy 48 year old, two MTB rides a week, c. 70k metres vert ascent a year. Didnt expect to be hit quite so hard by it.
Had my first AZ jab several weeks ago. Was not in the hurry to make the appointment even when the letter was sent to me earlier.
Before the jab I already had slight headache which would normally last for few hours but after the jab I got timely headache for 3 nights continuously.
On the day of the jab I was fine until around 12.30am to 1am where my headache started and could not stay awake any longer (usually I can stay awake with only 3 hours sleep), so went to sleep early.
The next day all fine, no sore arm, normal etc, but at exactly 12.30am to 1am again the headache started so went to bed early. This headache continued for 3 nights at the same time. I felt fine an normal during the day but at the exact timing the headache appeared.
p/s: since then I felt like there was a headache coming but that did not happen but felt like having a very mild pressure before headache.
After 3 days all normal but now I can sleep for very long hour for 10 hours sometimes creating headache sometimes. I recall immediately after the day of the jab I slept early but seem to wake up earlier than normal at 6am.
Pfizer 6 weeks ago.
Since then, I've been 'snotty' every morning, and regularly have to blow my nose. Something I havent done at all in the last 6 months+.
Also had an aching arm for rather longer than expected, 3 weeks after, there was still an aching spot on my arm, like someone had punched it.
Nothing to cause me trouble in the scheme of things, but maybe should be noted?
Thanks for that, will check what to do here.
Edit: Having looked at the government's info it's usually a non-serious side effect and we should contact a doctor if it persists three days.
Had the Moderna Sat 5pm. Achy arm for 24hrs. Since Sunday morning had slight aches, runny nose, tiredness. However, if it wasn’t for the jab I’d prob not even notice the symptoms or put them down to a few glasses of red 😆
Got 1st ox az dose at 1015 yesterday. Felt fine until about 9 pm and within 90 minutes I'd gone from sore arm, through muscle aches, to full shivers. Went to bed with paracetamol and sweated the night through. A bit better this morning but generally rough. I'm 48 next month and AFAIK haven't had covid.
I had the AZ jab yesterday at lunchtime. 12 hours later I started with the chills and then the sweating. I had a pretty restless night and my resting HR last night was 10-15 bpm higher than normal. I woke this morning to what felt like a mild hangover. I immediately took some paracetamol and feel a bit better now although I still have a dull headache. My Mrs has her AZ jab yesterday and she is fine.
Had AZ jab 17th April.
Had flu like symptons for a couple of days, which I battled through.
Still not right now (headaches/dizzy/fatigue/arm weakness), had to stop training totally. Its odd as I'm very fit, never get ill and never visit the doctors, the one time I have I'm been in years I've been ill ever since.
I can carry on with life, I'm tired, and I'd get the jab again, but it's not what I was expecting. I'm 42, few friends had it and only suffered a day or so. I think I had covid last year but didnt have a positive result. Just hoping i can get back to running and cycling soon
Mine yesterday, woke up for 20sec in the night with a sweat, but feel fine and dandy.
Arguably a tiny bit of an ache in my arm, but nothing really.
Jabbed yesterday morning.
Felt a bit cold last night, and woke up achey this morning - might just have been the busy weekend though.
Bit of a snot nose, bit tired this morning - but nothing more that I'd expect from staying up on the playstationy :).
Madame's rash has all but gone this morning. It was just as if she'd eaten a sea food menu with shell fish, same sort of rash.
I had the AZ jab last Friday morning. 4 days on and I after a rough night's sleep last Friday, I now feel dizzy and tired. I also keep getting a weird tingling feeling in my face, the sort you tend to get if you get cold sores. I was hoping to go for a ride tonight but I may have to rethink that one.
What I will say is none of this or any of the other side effects should put anybody off having the jab. Most of my friends and relatives have fared better than me and most have had none whatsoever.
Had the AZ at 4.30pm yesterday, felt slightly light headed most of the evening. Went bed as normal at about 10.30pm and slept fine till 2.20am when I woke up cold, slept on and off till I woke up at 5am cooking.
Since I've been up I've felt mildly hungover, tired and a little achy. Fingers crossed that's it and I'll be back out on the bike tomorrow.
FWIW I'm 39, reasonably fit and heathy. Pretty sure I haven't had the proper thing, certainly not had symptoms at any pint.
I also had the AZ yesterday at 430. Was fine until about 5am, when I woke up feeling a bit achey. Had breakfast and then got hit by a wall of exhaustion. Been napping on and off since then, a bit like a hangover but without the existential dread.
I had the virus pretty badly in March last year. Didn’t go to hospital, but was quite delirious and in and out of symptoms for a couple of months. Still had antibodies in Jan as I had a test to see if I could join up to the blood plasma trial, but I think that’s been cancelled.
I've slept most of the morning and now feeling much better.
Had my second Pfizer jab on Sunday. No more than a sore arm for a couple of days for both jabs.
Male, sinlge, 55 years old, First AZ 19th March, no side effects other than a slightly sore arm.
Exactly one calendar month later, wake up, OK, go to work, OK.
Mid morning, start to feel cold. Late morning unable to feel warm regardless of jumper and coat, start to shake, no one else in office feels cold, drive home, do not remember journey.
No appetite, turn heating up and try to sleep under duvet fully clothed.
One day later, just starting to feel normal, Paracetamol seems to work.
Normal temperature, no headaches, no sore throat, no lack of taste etc.
I have been socially distancing, other than meeting two people in a large ventilated office.
I would not have mentioned the above, but symptoms match other people’s reactions, just very, very late.
Had the Moderna jab Sat afternoon, 47 yr old male. No reaction aside a slightly sore shoulder at the injection point. I actually felt better than I normally do on a Sunday morning as I avoided alcohol as advised. Also was advised to take two paracetamol befor bed, which I did.
My wife had the Moderna jab and apart from a sore arm for a day was perfectly ok.
I had the Az and after a day I’ve felt like crap. Exhausted, bit of a brain fog and achy. Thankfully working at home but I’m knackered if I try to do anything - walking up and down the stairs leaves me knackered.
Is that common?
AZ at 3pm last Saturday. Rode MTB in the Dales on Sunday. No issues. Arm wasn't even sore.
Two days on from the AZ jab and I'm feeling almost 100%. I spent a couple of hours in bed yesterday afternoon with a rough headache but felt better when I woke up. Then I was just generally feeling lethargic. I ended up having an afternoon on the sofa watching the Tour des Alps and then some snooker...
Day9 after first OxAZ jab and I'm still waiting to feel human again, now signed off sick for this second week by by GP. :/
Yesterday morning I woke up without the dull headache that started around midday on Saturday 17th, but by ~1100 I could feel something brewing in the background, which developed into another full-on episode that's continued since.
The body aches/pains are still there but more subdued now, still quite mentally and physically fatigued, while the arm and leg heaviness seems to have gone.
Almost 48 hours on from the jab I feel largely ok again. Bit tired and a sore arm, otherwise ok this morning
I had a decent nights sleep last night and feel almost normal this morning after mine on Monday evening. Not counting my chickens yet though!
49 y/o male. First Moderna jab just over 48 hours ago, done at the Etihad Manchester. No side effects whatsoever. The needle didn't even hurt (they kind of distract you), a very mild pain if I pushed into my arm at the jab site for the first 24 hours. That's it, for now....
Probably not a good idea to read this before getting my first jab tomorrow afternoon lol
Will be getting the jab I must add.
