My mum (66) had her 2nd AZ vaccination yesterday morning, had a bit of headache last night and felt a bit rough/feverish but paracetamol sorted her out, no ill effects at all this morning so needless to say she carried on as usual which for her meant a 20 mile cycle then a hike up a local hill (screel hill, galloway)

47 y/o here..
AZ jab on Monday at 6pm. Felt a bit sore Tuesday morning and i'd had a crappy sleep. Did a load of stuff in the morning but ran out of steam after lunch. Had a wee sleep and felt fairly rubbish when I woke up, by 7pm (25 hours later) the cold shivers began. Bed with hot water bottle. Wednesday, still some joint pain and quite lethargic but not so bad.

it may have been said somewhere else in the thread but talking with those that have had AZ jabs the first is the worst one, the second is far less reactive, it seems its the reverse for the Pfizer Jab

50 hours in. After feeling rubbish thus morning I then improved in the day, enough to be able to do a 30 min Zwift. Feeling a bit drained now again, but far from terrible.

49 y/o and I had the AZ jab on Tuesday around 2pm. Was fine until midnight and then endured a rough night with some mad, vivid dreams and had flu/hangover symptoms most of Wednesday. Felt close to normal in the evening but woke up this morning at 3am feeling odd with no chance of getting back to sleep.
It's going to be a long day.

I'm 45 and had the AZ jab on Sunday afternoon.
I started feeling a bit rough that evening, similar feeling to when you feel that you are coming down with a cold. Felt ok Monday morning, though did feel light headed a few times and I felt kind of lethargic almost like I had been out on the piss the day before. Tuesday I felt a little bit more normal, but then Wednesday I felt totally wiped out. Everything ached, I had a headache and just felt so tired. I ended up sacking off work as I just wanted to go to bed. Slept for 4-5 hours and woke up feeling great.
Feel good again this morning so hopefully back to normal now.

Ended up finally ringing 111 about my headache (not the worst I've had by some way) yesterday morning after having it for four days (duration very unusual for me), while waiting for the callback from GP it ironically began to subside... Told to head to A+E for tests if it returns.

Touch wood, the threat of visiting SGH seems to have done the trick, I've woken late again this morning at ~0900 after briefly waking randomly at ~0400, but other than that I feel vaguely human.

Even managed a ~15min very gentle ride just before dinner, my first since Mon 12th, I'd struggle to remember the last time I hadn't ridden for nine days... Never has a ride around the local estate felt so good! 😆

Fingers crossed this is my final entry in this thread.

Had AZ Sunday lunchtime, felt a but odd Monday lunchtime so took some paracetamol and felt ok again. Have found my commute feeling a bit tougher up to yesterday but fine today.

I had a couple of very disturbed nights sleep but was much better last night.

Had my first (AZ) yesterday lunchtime.

Didn't sleep great last night but that's been a recurring thing for me recently so not sure it was a side effect. Other than that, apart from a slightly sore arm when I rolled over onto it, no problems at all.

47 year old male. Had mine on Tuesday afternoon. Felt great all afternoon, went to bed normal time. Woke up about 1am covered in sweat but feeling freezing cold. Had a temperature, only 39.8 degrees but felt aweful. Was having spasms, abs absolutely killing me. Didn’t sleep at all. In the morning felt better, temperature was 38 degrees so coming down, but had was very musty. Did 2 hours work but couldn’t concentrate, been off again today as still exhausted and fuzzy head.

Had mine yesterday morning (AZ). OK till I went to bed then I've had the worst night I've had in a long time. Freezing/boiling, thrashing about. Gave up about 45 mins ago and got up. Feel like death warmed up 😐

Popped some pills, will see if that helps.  Might be a sofa day otherwise! 49 yo male

I’m the same as you but a day later @tpbiker - jab yesterday, feeling a bit ropey now, just light nausea and tiredness. Not too bad, just conscious of been not 100% really. Feel like I need a snooze but that could be a typical Friday feeling!

42 years old, 24 hours (had to edit as initially put 12...maybe my it's affected my brain more than I thought!) since I had my 1st AZ jab.

Arm is aching a bit and feel a little rough but had some paracetamol and don't feel too bad. Was really tired last night and this morning. Hopefully that's as bad as it gets!

Days 3 Woke up every hour util around 3am and then slept solidly untl 7.
Feel better today but am still lacking energy. Went for a gentle stroll around the block and was soon breathing harder, with a heart rate akin to that if I was jogging.

@dirkpit74, yep now 8 weeks on from my first AZ injection. Pain through my arm ,shoulder and neck. Had 6 weeks off work and now 2 on reduced hours. Doctors don't seem interested other than to just sign me off again.

Yes, but as per my earlier posts in this thread, I've had long covid for just over a year now and it seems a relatively common reaction with long haulers. I was jabbed around six weeks ago and only really got back to my pre-vaccine baseline this week. Apparently similar is happening with CFS/ME sufferers.

My guess is basically that your immune system gets a proper terrier-with-rat shake-up. I've read the specific response in the sense of anti-body/t-cell production peaks around 28 days after the vaccination, which kind of corresponds to how I've reacted. Of course coincidence isn't necessarily causation and you may just have a low grade bug.

Have you had covid? Apparently those who've been infected tend to have a more vigorous response.

@dirkpitt74 I had 8 full days of feeling absolutely rubbish off work and turned the corner on day 9 (Wednesday afternoon).

Managed 15mins outdoor ride Weds late afternoon but it was a real struggle, 30mins on the turbo Thurs pm which still felt far harder than normal, plus 1.75 hours in yesterday's sunshine which had my legs moaning last night despite the easy pace.

Ever since mild Covid in March '20, I've had to be a lot more careful in spacing out rides with z4+ efforts, to try and prevent massive fatigue crashes for days afterwards. As much as it's frustrated me in terms of fitness drop and weight gain, I should be thankful I've not had full-on long Covid like my partner and some stw forum members including BadlyWiredDog/Ahsat/TiRed, who have had life-changing consequences from Covid so far.

My retired mum had mild Covid in March '20, she thought her first OxAZ jab side effects lasted at least a month and I'm trying to reasure her that her second jab should be far less severe, just as it was for my partner who struggled for at least a week in Jan after the first jab.

@BadlyWiredDog I don't think I've had COVID.
Although I did have flu New Year 2019 before COVID was a thing.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already but if you have any adverse reactions to the jab you should log it on this website.

I had my second Pfizer jab yesterday and after the first one I woke up with a resting HR of 122 and a temperature. Yesterday I woke up with a resting HR of 144 and a temperature of 40.1 which wasn't pleasant. Spent most of the day in bed taking paracetamol and felling much better today but not 100%.

I had the AZ one weeks ago but lately been getting a sporadic sharp jabbing pain where I had the jab. No signs of a splinter or bite. A mystery.

Ditto
Had my first AZ injection a month ago.
Sore for 48hrs then calmed down. Knocked out a 70mile road ride and the injection site starts to ache around tge 3hr point. Got slightly worse through the ride but disappeared ab hour or so later
Then did some mtb and windsurfing and it started up again so most likely exercise induced

Just coming up to 10 days after my first AZ jab and had to visit A&E today. After feeling like I was getting back to normal 5-6 days after the jab, this weekend I've felt bloody awful.

Apparently I'm OK but an explanation for why I feel like crap could be that I'm on prescription anti-histamines, as I get hives. So basically an overactive immune system. It seems the reaction to the vaccine is somewhat more pronounced and explains how I feel.

Felt awful on Friday, marginally better on Saturday,  ok this morning but now utterly wiped out. Falling asleep standing up pretty much, along with a thick head and a stiff neck.  Hoping to be ok tomorrow 🤞

Had the AZ vax last Wednesday night. Haven’t really felt ill but have had some weird sensations

- first night weird vivid dreams
- Thursday morning numb nose
- Thursday afternoon really painful lungs
- Thursday night insomnia
- Friday exhausted (probably from being awake night before)
- didn’t bother riding on Saturday as thought I should be kind to myself

It’s a bit like being 26 again 😉

Had my second AZ yesterday, not even any noticeable tenderness at the vaccination site. Feeling a bit stuffed up and sniffly today, but there’s loads of pollen around, particularly tree pollen, and it could easily be that, despite taking hay fever tablets. Eyes aren’t itching much though, which is good, ‘cos I’ve just started wearing contacts again after some time of not bothering. It’s entirely possible I’ve just caught a bit of a cold. Which is a variety of Corona virus itself, or one of a variety of Corona viruses.
Hopefully, with all the work going into vaccines for these viruses, and I read a report today, that indicates that a single vaccination can be developed that protects against all Corona viruses; a cure for the common cold, imagine that, as well as MERS, SARS, SARS-Cov2...

Had my second on Saturday. I have the obligatory sore arm, and yesterday woke up with a mild hangover. I threw down some paracetamol and did a long club ride, oddly my legs we’re fine but my shoulders and neck were in agony.

Feel like I have a very mild cold this morning and the aches and pains are much reduced.

Felt properly tired last night (6 days on from AZ jab). Could have been a combination of a working weekend and deciding to go for a quick blast round Swinley in the afternoon yesterday, but I was in bed & asleep by 9pm.

Woke up early this morning, did a quick 40 min zwift. Perceived effort was probably a 9 or 10, but HRM said a 7/8 so definitely feeling a bit off.

Its taken me 5 weeks to get over feeling run down, no drive or motivation and knackered after exercise, lets hope my 2nd one doesn't do the same, as its doing nothing to help my Fred Witton training 🙁

8 days after 2nd Pfizer jab and still feeling very tired. Used my lunch break for a lie down and woke up 2 hours later. Headache continues as does the occasional slightly blurry vision which i can get from headaches anyway.
first shot didnt really give me many problems just a couple of days feeling a bit off.

1st AZ Saturday morning. Felt anxious about it which was probably more the cause of whatever I was feeling than the jab itself at that point and shortly after. Later felt like a minor cold was starting. Tried to do half an hour of trials riding but only managed 20 minutes. following day did 18 miles flat off road ride on mtb. Today feel fine, did a 5k run.

First AZ friday morning
Sore arm which meant I had a crap nights sleep since I tend to sleep on that side. RHR was higher on saturday but that is normal for me when I sleep badly.
Went kayaking without issue on saturday although probably did mean it remained sore for a bit longer.

AZ.

Had both, similar side effects to yearly flu jab, bit tired, slightly disturbed sleep, felt like a cold coming on for 24 hrs, all fine after that.

nearly 24 hours later and nothing significant other than a mild headache this morning and a slightly sore arm if I poke the injection site. RHR is as normal. think I might try a run later.

44yo male.
AZ, jab #1 was 3pm last thursday, its now wednesday after.

Headache by 8pm on day of jab. then slept very badly.
Mild chills and shivers next day, banging headache, absolute dog tired. paracetamol worked for the headache. set of hellys helped with the chills. took day off work. managed sum total of 10 minutes of pottering round the house (mowing the lawn) before sleeping in afternoon. started feeling ok (if tired) by about 8pm in the evening.
Next day felt fine... until mid afternoon... fell asleep, only to be woken up ten minutes later by the kids (thanks boys!)
Day after, felt fine... until mid afternoon... fell asleep again.

This pattern has continue for another few days. Just dozed off at my keyboard at work.

I should note, I tried running on the third day after. Probably didn't help, but what can you do, I felt ok at the time. Same applies today.

I've not had C19 proper.

Reassured I'm a fairly normal response by reading some of this thread, thanks to all for sharing.

AZ first shot yesterday afternoon. Spent 2 hours in bed last night absolutely freezing; put on a thermal and woke up with a temperature; felt dizzy when I got up this morning like the worst flu, but now not doing too badly - the tiredness is worse than any other symptoms.

2nd pfizer on Monday, really really sore arm for 24hrs. But nothing else i can tell. I half suspect that the nurse jabbed me somewhere in my arm it shouldn't have hit a that's the first time a jab has hurt at the time of injection for me
