Just moved into a new (albiet rented) flat and need to get contents cover sorted. Bog standard usual stuff, with stuff like Macbook and bike (Giant Trance Zero) needing to be covered separately and for use outside the house.

Anyone had good experiences and can recommend a decent insurance company? Tried MoneySupermarket.com but have never heard of most of the list of companies it throws up.

I went Hiscox - their basic cover started at much more than the other companies and when they suggest you tot up your stuff it actually comes out near that price, so the standard policies from other would have left me very underinsured.

Unless your house is too old.

How old is too old? Mine was built in the late 19th Century.

Just got insured with Halifax (contents only) with all the usual stuff including a fair bit of jewellery, cameras/laptops out of the house, plus agreed value of bikes, both at home and out and about, for £28/month.
