We will be in touch
I came to turn my PC on after work and it seems to POST okay but the monitors stay on standby.
I assume it's booting okay. I have an issue with the fan controller and it beeps 5-10 times during boot, always turning off when the computer's on properly. It does that as it normally would.
I have a back lit keyboard and mouse and they have lights on as normal. The lights turn off and back on as they usually would when the computer moves from POST to properly in the OS.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Check the monitor cables, switch the monitor on manually from standby.
I checked the cables and made sure they were scewed in / pushed in properly (data and power). I tried it booting with just one monitor plugged in. The computer booted very slowly. It got past the motherboard splash screen etc but was on this screen for a good few minutes.
My background now looks like this.
It's run out of pixels
Possibly lost its display settings.
Right click on the desktop and select screen resolution.
I've realised why the desktop background was buggered up. I keep the images for the background on an external drive: an external drive I'd unplugged to troubleshoot the boot issues. Plugging it back in means the background's nice again.
Think the boot problem was one of those unlucky things? PSU problem? GPU problem?
I've a busy afternoon so am a little apprehensive about turning the machine off and seeing if it boots properly.
PSU and GPU are the two things I don't have spares for. I don't have a thingy to check the output of the PSU and the motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics to eliminate the GPU.
