Could someone just help me out here my computer knowledge is a bit limited...
I was running my pc with 1 x 512mb ram which is a Pc2100 DDR and 1x 1gb Pc3200 now i'm not sure what was wrong with the 1gb but the Pc only ever thought there was 1gb in total memory..anyway my Pc kept crashing when playing videos so i was told to take out one of the memory , I took the 1gb out and it has been fine since...
So i now only have 512mb in the machine and want to put more in but am confused as to which to buy, DDR , DDR2 Pc2100 or PC3200...
My motherboard spec is:
Property Value
Manufacturer MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD
Model MS-6577

North Bridge Intel i845G Revision A1
South Bridge Intel 82801DB (ICH4) Revision A1

CPU Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.53GHz
Cpu Socket Socket 478 mPGA

System Slots 3 PCI, 1 AGP

Memory Summary
Maximum Capacity 2048 MBytes
Maximum Memory Module Size 1024 MBytes
Memory Slots 2
Error Correction None

So will the Pc take more than 1gb, can it take 2 x 512mb Pc3200 ? what is the best option to increase the memory and maybe speed up my PC...
I am running a fresh windows install and am totally spyware and virus free...

Sorry for the long post

Cheers
Anthony

Shouldnt use differnt spec of ram and sizes of ram in same in P.C.
causes latency(timing problems).
matched pairs of same size with low latency,
check your motherborad handbook for correct types.

Use Crucial's website scanner to tell you exactly what kind you need.

thanks, i knew i had seen that site somewhere before...It says i can only put 1024 of ram in, why is this when my board says it can do 2048, anyway that fine so it looks like i need a matching pair of 512 DDR rams and it looks like it will take PC3200 ones....

thanks
Anthony
