When trying to open hyperlinks from websites, the new window appears and tries to load, but never does. Only started in last couple of days.
Any ideas why?

When it "never loads", what happens? Blank window with "Done" at the bottom / blank with "error" at the bottom / error message / something else?

What AV are you using? Some 'total internet security' package with a pop-up blocker?

Try a different browser, see if it still does it? What browser are you using?

Run a malware scan?

Little blue circle going round and round to suggest loading, but no result.

ESET Nod something. Was working fine for weeks

What, like Firefox?

Run a malware scan?

Will try that

Does it not time out if you leave it long enough?

Shot in the dark, but (assuming IE) go to Tools / Internet Options / Connections / LAN settings. If there's a tick in the 'automatically detect a proxy' box, remove it.

A recent update might have changed something?

What, like Firefox?

Aye.

I had a virus which, once cleared, still caused this. It had set up a fake proxy on my machine which had been deleted by the AV so nothing was working.

Sorry to bring this up again.
I've run Stopzilla and spybot, which did find and remove some nasties.

Problem still there with IE7, but not with Firefox.

Any hints....?
