I was excited to receive a rather large parcel from the rainforest-based supplier of all things
the contents turned out to be rather less than the volume of the parcel. The label on the item itself suggests that there might have been some over enthusiasm in the bagging area.
your nominations for comedy packaging awards please.

I don't have pics but demon tweeks once sent me 2 indicator bulbs in a box that was about 40cm cubed, filled completely with foam peanuts. One of them was broken.
Tredz just sent me 2 24 inch rims individually packed in massive cardboard boxes covered in statements about how much they care about the environment, you could have easily fitted both into one box
I once got a text from my girlfriend saying ‘what have you done?’ Accompanied by a picture of three wardrobe sized cardboard boxes in our living room.
i’d ordered 10 ‘space saving stacking crates’ from a manufacturer in Germany. And my mind started racing- being a manufacturer maybe they didn’t sell them as single units. Had I ordered 10 lots of 10? 10 lots of 100?
It had been quite a long lead time for a small order.
Started to panic a bit about how much the bill was going to be if I’d accidentally ordered a thousand crates at £20 each.
turns or there’d put the lids on and stacked them one on top of the other before boxing them - 4 to wardrobe sized box and two in a half empty one.
With the lids off and nested all ten took up less than the space of two stacked - hence the ‘space saving’ in the product description. That was quite a lot of air to ship from Germany to scotland for the £14 delivery charge.
Didn’t CRC trial a 100% automated packing system a few years back? They could only offer 2 sizes of boxes, the smaller of the two was still quite large. Didn’t take long for tales of quick-links arriving in shoebox sized, well boxes.

The fully automated modern one is similar to amazon I think where it shapes/cuts the box to size so an infinite combination.
At the other end I've had 2 tyres sent, non folding with an address label on them and some tape to hold the 2 together
My favourite – a computer mouse delivered on a pallet…
I can actually see how that would happen. And it’s more likely to be an error made by a customer not the service provider. E.g. For whatever reason the sender has booked via a palletised only logistics company. Someone paid for it so away it went. I should know really with K&N as a former employee, but I’m fairly sure they don’t deal with parcel deliveries.
Anyway, I’d suggest the reason for the OPs excessive box is down to it being cheaper than a box that’s just right.
No pics I'm afraid, but in my late teens I decided to build a pair of disco style speakers with 12" bass drivers.
Bought the wood local but for the woofers, horn tweeters, crossovers, terminals, and various other bits and bobs I ordered from a mail order company called terralec. They were kinda like maplin but only did audio stuff for pubs/djs and that sort of thing.
Two boxes the size of washing machines turned up full of polystyrene beans.
It was like a game show trying to fish out all the bits without getting beans everywhere lol!
Edit ... Seems they still exist!
Not really comedy packing but I did just have a delivery round in a LWB hi-top Sprinter from DPD. I live proper out in the sticks too. What was it that needed such a large vehicle?
A new Sim card for my mobile. £3.99 on a monthly contract with free delivery!
Mattyfez.
Thanks for that link. Good timing.
Need to get some handles for a case. They have just what I am looking for. Prices OK.
Thanks.
not quite the same theme but I recently got a pair of scissors delivered in that welded shut blister pack sort of packaging. It would have been dead easy to get into if I had a pair of scissors, but they'd been mislaid, so I'd ordered another pair.......

Yeah but it reduced the size of the boxes to suit too. A lot of people just didn't realise that cardboard boxes are dirt cheap and totally recyclced and recyclable, and pretty good for logistics too- stackable and light etc so you can just cage em and truck em. Also I think a lot of hte critics imagined that CRC pay the same for their post as we do

Ordered some poles for the caravan awning, they turned up in massive amounts of cardboard box and assorted junk.
great service too, as they were delivered to the caravan site while we were out and were left with the adjacent pitch.
i think some companies use it as a way to dispose/ reuse waste which they would have to pay to get rid of.
No pictures to hand but any Japanese sweets, the reason for obesity not being a problem, you burn too many calories trying to get to the sugar.
