Getting wound up about how dull/annoying/bland/repetetive they are that is, or should I just pretend I can't hear them?

If you ever accidently hear them, or anyone as dull such as Adele, Lana Del Ray or Jame Blunt etc just rinse your ears out with this...

Pretend... It's what I've been doing for the last 12 years or so.

Single biggest over-rated band in the history of all music, without question! Chris Martin couldn't sing a note in tune (not that I could, but I'm not a millionaire singer yet!) if you held a gun to his head!

It's not about being dull (though Coldplay are incredibly dull), it's cos they're totally talentless! Adele, James Blunt, and to a lesser extent Lana Del Rey (though she is a bit too sombre for her own good) have heaps of talent even if they deliver it in a bit of a downbeat way at times. Coldplay are just utter shite!

I've just had Coldplay & Del Ray in one 5 minute period (shudders) - digital reception is limited where I'm staying and 6 Music keeps cutting out, so I'm resigned to Q - Kerrang got a bit shouty about an hour ago.

Gave that shit 50 seconds bobbyg81 and turned it off with blood pouring from my ears.

While i agree on the Coldplay score, I am not goin to agree that James Blunt and Lana Del Rey have more talent! That's just mince!

Coldplay are the best band in the world, probably ever! I used to like Slayer, but the first time I heard 'Yellow' it was like an emancipation. I now listen to nothing else. They are without a doubt the best songwriters ever, anthemic songs that define a generation. I even reckon the drummer is better than Gene Krupa and John Bonham combined, and the bassist has the funk and soul of Bootsy Collins, except he's loads better. The guitarist reminds me of a cross between Peter Green and Paul Kossoff, but with a smattering of Joe Satriani and the flare of Hendrix, except better than all of them. And Chris Martin is like the male Aretha Franklin, he sends shivers up the spine with every word he utters. Plus he's better than ll you haterz as him and Boneo from U2 save all the Africans.

Wow - getting wound up about a "pop" band that you can choose not to listen to. Now that's a first world only issue if ever I've heard one.

Your radio has an Off button.

FWIW, I like Coldplay. They don't push forward the frontiers of music, but to say they're talentless is ludicrous. If there's no talent involved in making music that's enjoyed by millions of people worldwide, sells out arenas worldwide and sells millions of albums, then why isn't everyone doing it? Why aren't you doing it?

There are plenty of bands I don't like, But that's it, they're not $h1t, they're not talentless, I just don't like them. If others do, great. I don't get why people get angry about music they don't like. No-one's forcing you to listen to it.

jealousy by proxy? Bands they like don't get the recognition/success/money so hate to see it in bands they don't like.

Thing is with half the music aficionados, if their fave bands did make it and everyone and their granny started buying the CDs they've say they'd sold out and go on to something new.

Ooh I dunno, I like some bloody awful stuff that I'm properly ashamed of, reckon a few of those require an apology.

Wow - people getting wound up on the internet at someones comments about a band, then taking time to smash away at their keyboards stating the bleedin obvious. Thanks for reminding me that my radio has an off button though, as I'd have never realised otherwise.

Considering you aren't sat in the same room as me, we will gloss over the reasons why the radio doesn't get turned off every time something like that comes on. Anyway, I'd just heard one of their songs for the umpteenth time and realising it sounded just like everything else they'd ever done prompted me to post. I don't get their meteoric rise to fame, but then people seen to like bland. I'm sure listing my music collection would raise some eyebrows. Not going to lose any sleep over it though, or Coldplay for that matter.

I once agreed to go and see them with mrshora. She went mental, jumping up and down when the fella sat down to play his piano. Odd behaviour I thought! Meanwhile I made countless trips to the toilet and to buy another beer(s).

I think that what we have here is an interesting variation of The Edinburgh Defence.
