I have just fitted some boarding to an airing cupboard in place of the hacked up floorboards that were there previously. There is an unsightly gap where the old skirting boards were and I would like to replace with some new skirting board. However there is a possibility that the boards will need to be lifted for access to pipes etc so some sort of clip on trim would be ideal, has to be white gap is about 5-6 cm high.

Any ideas welcome

You could fix normal skirting with silicone, strong enough to hold in place but also easy enough to remove?

Can you make a hatch from your boards? I know you have just laid them but if you want ready access it may be the easiest option. You can then have fixed skirting too.

Ikea make skirting that fits on clips IIRC. Search their site.

Look at the assembly instructions, that's on clips.

Paint it if you don't like the finish?

Velcro? (-:

We have lots of velcro tape at work - sticky tape one side, velcro the other. It can be a real pain to remove items kids have stuck on with it - the velcro works brilliantly. I would give this a go personally.

Thanks for all your input,

Quite like the idea of velco.

IA - That looks like the type of thing I had in mind will investigate further.

Trail rat - I did think of that, but thought it would be a bit involved and that it may not work too well long term as its into brick, if it was wood would be OK.

Anyway plenty to think about, sun is shining and what I am doing fixing bits of skirting board when I really should be out on the bike...
