I have an interesting problem. Last September I had an accident in the Alps and incurred lots of medical bills for treatment/ambulances. I paid a few bills there and some invoices were sent to me after. All were paid by my insurers. However one of the Ambulances took my credit card details but never charged me. I sent their paperwork with the rest to my insurers. I assume it had all been settled and could forget about it.

Today I find that Ambulance crew have charged an amount to my card, a full 5 months after! Any further bills served on me after coming how were sent to me via normal mail and forwarded to my insurance company. They all had my insurers contact details and policy number. I have raised a payment dispute with my credit card issuers as I don't think this is acceptable. It will prove hard to claim from my insurers without a proper invoice and I see this is the only way to ensure I get proper paperwork.

Any comments?

You see, thats why I've got private healthcare. You don't get doctors like that on the NHS.

If that were the doctor I wouldn't be complaining ;o)

I know what you mean Jim. When I was rushed to their MRI equipped hospital, upon arrival the nurse asked if I didn't mind a 2 minute wait till they prepared the room. 2 minute wait for an MRI scan and apologising for it!

Photocopy of your credit card statement with a letter of explanation?

6 week wait for an MRI scan? Were you in some crumbling former Soviet state or something?

Nope non emergency and had to wait for my doctors to agree to pay for it as the orthopedic department hasn't the funding. The beauty of the modern NHS.

Ah, the joined-up policies of the NHS.

So basically yes, it was some crumbling former Soviet state-a-like you were dealing with.

A recent report stated that improving IT systems was taking 25% of current NHS budgets (2007-8 IIRC).

Imagine what all that money could do for patient care.

As an NHS employee it wouldn't be so bad if any of the bloooody stuff worked.

Reminds me of this...

I was in a hospital in one of those bits where there are curtains round the beds. One of the curtains was not closed properly and behins it there was a man furiously masturbating. I was a bit alarmed as the family were with me, so I mentioned it to nurse. She explaimed that he had a condition where his sperm production was vastly accelerated and had to release the pressure a dozen times a day!. She closed the curtian. A little further down, I couldn't believe it. There was a man receiving 'oral relief' from a stunning nurse, again the curtains were not properly closed. I was a bit taken aback, so mentioned it to the nurse I had spoken to earlier. She explained that this man coincidentaly had the same condition as the previous man, but he was on Bupa.

IGMC......
