As above, looking for cheapest prices, currently buying them on Amazon, but I am rapidly going up the weights and seem to be spending a fortune, should have just got a gym membership, or some weight selectable dumbells!!

So anywhere cheaper than Amazon to buy cast iron (standard not Olympic) plates, preferably YORK?

(nothing on local gumtree, ebay is local pick only)

Cheapest I found was Decathlon

£24.99 for 20kg

They have 28mm and 50mm.

What programme are you doing? I am doing Stronglifts and it's really good - I'm running out of weight as well!

Dumb question - what's the difference between Olympic and standard plates?

Hole size if I remember rightly? Olympic weights are 2" holes whereas standard plates are 1" ?

Standing by to be corrected.

Who knew? I thought it might have been something more profound... I guess the weights I've used previously have been Olympic then. Hmm.

Where's local for you?

I've got a set of Cast iron 25kg dumbbells (I think they're York spinlock ones) that I never use - still in the box 😳 where they've been for years.

I'm in the North East

time to man up, get two car wheels welded onto a scaffolding pole. Add cement to tyres as required.

Tesco are the cheapest I've found new but I;d say keep scouring Gumtree and the bay, eventually you'll find something close to you. I've had a few bargains, had 140kg of gumtree for £40, 70kg and a few spinlock bars for £19.50 and 110kg and loads of bars for £50, both off ebay.
