Everyone loves the Damned.... and everyone else is wrong.

Talking of which. Who is up for some rural dorset punk action... in a fantastic old theatre.

The Damned in the Electric Palace in Bridport...

email me bikemonger at yahoo.co.uk if you want some stickers.

the damned were never a goth band though they just pinched the image for one album.

Love song, neat neat neat, new rose, problem child were top tunes as soon as they tried to be anything other than a bunch of pised up punks it all went a bit gash in my opinion

It all went wrong when the Captain left, the stuff with Roman was ok but not great, then Rat left the Captain came back and the last album was suprisingly good. Machine Gun Etiquette the best album in my humble opinion. Must have seen them about 15 times was even a member of the Flasman Society 😀

They are playing at the assembly in Leamington quite soon and I've been umming and ahing whether to go and see them.
Will it ruin my memories of them from when we were both young?
Will I be allowed to strip to the waist(top half) and leap and chicken about?
Will I be ABLE to strip to the waist(top half) and leap and chicken about?

There are only two of the original outfit left isn't there?

In a completely random anecdote.. I once drove to Switzerland in a Mini with a guy who lived next door to one of the Damned... can't for the life of me remember which one though... he knew him really well and they were godfathers to each others kids...

That's all...

Carry on as you were...

Sanctum Sanctorum was pretty good though

My fave is The Black Album, although Strawberries & MGE are both very good too

Phantasmagoria is bloody great!!! Got to admit that the Black Album is a close second. Both showed what they were capable of as musicians.

Still worth seeing. Still effin loud. Captain is good for banter.
They supported motörhead last year which should have been a great gig but the venue(bic bournemouth) was shite and the crowd were 16 years old. But get them a small venue At the top of the bill and you get a solid crowd of old punks and you won't be able to hear for days.

The Damned were an ok punk band but there were lots of other bands far better around at the time. The fact they are still going & none of them have died proves to me they were never a real punk band...... 8)

Naming your kids Eloise is nothing... pah, I would have called my son "Captain" but I have no son, just girls. So I named our second shop hound "Captain"... here he is...

Random anecdote No 2 - I once stood in a queue in Sheffield for a payphone, and Dave Vanian was in front of me!
