I'm currently running my laptop through my DJ setup which means that I have a volume control on the laptop, mixer and speakers. How do I set this up so that the sound is at its best? At the moment if I turn the laptop up more than just a little bit I get some really bad distortion. Can anyone give some advice please?
Note - I can't afford to change any of this setup!
The best advice for most setups is to have the source device outputting 'unamplified' - look for a line out rather than using an headphone socket. If there is no such option, then have the laptop as low volume as possible, and use the final amplifier in the chain to add all the volume.
Results are never going to be very good however...
