Its been a few years since I've had to purchase tyres for the car thanks to a maintenance contract. However, its now time to dip my hand in my wallet. I seem to remember getting some good deals online in the past and then having them fitted locally.
Any good experiences out there ? Who have you used ?

blackcircles were cheapest I found - they use variety of local fitters so I guess depends a bit on them but the one I went to (Totton, down southampton way) was ace

camskill are good as long as you factor in the price of getting them fitted locally (was about £20 the last set I had done) I saved £70 over the black circles price so even with £20 to fit I was well pleased

Mytyres.co.uk is pretty good. I use them for my winter tyres. I get them delivered to work and then the local garage will fit them for £15 a piece.

I usually find for common tyres it is cheaper to phone the local fitters directly.

I've found Event Tyres to be as cheap as most of the places that just provide the tyres, and they come and fit them for you.

I've used Etyres the last couple of times - mainly for the 'free' on-site fitting. Fill out the form on the website by 5 (I think it is) and - provided it's nothing too fancy - they'll come round and fit them from 8am the next day. Their local man-in-the-van is a lovely bloke to boot.

The man in a van from HomeTyre.co.uk is outside fitting two new tyres on mine right now. They were cheap(er!) than the others and more importantly the only ones with the tyres in stock. Two punctures on the way to work this morning. Grrrrr.

tyremen were cheapest for me last time. This time they're not cheapest but I can recommend their service if they are cheapest for you.

"mytyres" was the cheapest when I replaced a tyre last week. You get free delivery then spend £15 at an approved local garage for fitting.

The previous time, the cheapest was through a mobile fitting service. They turn up in a van and do it where your car is, so no time and fuel wasted driving to garages. Very convenient!

I checked them out this time, but they were nowhere near competitive on price. Maybe still worth it for the convenience though.

Why not just phone your local garrage? Local KwikFit did my housmates focus with 4 new uniroyal's for less than the online sites could supply them unfitted, came to about £210 all in!

Go online and get a price (factoring fitting/balancing/disposal etc) and then phone local, most will price match.

Also had massive discounts on 4 tyres at Kwik Fit - no one could anywhere near their price and that was for "posh" tyres too.

You are right that you can get cheap budget tyres at the locals but I have always found them expensive for premium tyres.
Doing 30k a year I would stay at the premium end of the market for the extra life I will get out of them.

I tried this last time I needed a set - so quite a bit of cash. Took the time to go to a mix of 'names' and independants and asked if they would price match to the best I could do on line. The Indy's would move, but were still pricey, but the names just said take it or leave it. This was for an 07-plate Focus, so nothing out of the ordinary. Quite shocked - they must be making money out of people who can't be bothered to shop around....

another +1 for blackcirles.

Fitted on the drive and cheaper than the local dealer (which wouldn't fit them on the drive)

Splash - I've had two sets of Continental Sport Contact 3s from Kwik fit - 30% discount for 4. Not exactly budget tyres...

I've used various different ones, recently had a good experience with tyreshopper which uses national tyres for fitting, and got cash back via quidco, which several tyre companies also use, for cashback.
but tyre prices are on the rise, the tyres i had fitted have gone up 10 quid a corner in the last 3 weeks.

Got some Yokohama's 195/65/15 for £220 fited for all 4 at National tyres online (book/pay online) in June.

Could've bought the tyres cheaper in a few places online but once I'd factored fitting/valve/disposal costs it was the cheaper option.

Had 4 tyres delivered from camskill about 20 mins ago. Good prices, fast service - my local garage will fit them for me. Have used Mytyres as well and they're OK too but not based in the UK which may be an issue if you're having a warranty problem like I am 🙁
