Oh yeah, my favourite time of year 👿

I am, as far as the insurance companies as concerned, a massive liability (24yo male) and so get quoted £750 for 3PF+T to insure an old 2.0l diesel estate worth £500. I now have one years no-claims but the premium hasn't changed much from what I paid last year. I've read on the news that everyone premiums are going up.

Seems like if I add my girlfriend (23) it goes down to £660. If I add my Mum as well it goes down to £616! If I add my Dad (who has a few tickets...) it goes back up again.

Anyone got any tips for getting it down as much as possible? I'm using moneysupermarket at the moment. Admiral is coming out cheapest. Currently with Endsleigh.

Cheers!

How about if you offer to increase your voluntary excess?

Increase excess, try fully comp or 3rd party only, shop around a lot (not just price comparison sites)

try only doing 9999 miles as well not 10000

Women drivers are better risks too 😉

try directline...not on comparison sites and miles cheaper for both me and my dad (on separate policies).

Strangely enough, it would have cost me (19 yr old female with 1 years no claims) more to insure with my dad (50 year old male with many many no claims!) than on my own though!

try adding business use too, not just SDC, sometimes* brings premiums down. *not always.
