Having been with Green Flag the past year, i'm a bit surprised to see this years premium has gone up 35% . No call outs or whatever. I'll see if I can haggle them down but who knows these days

So i'm thinking about changing to another co. Anyone got any good recommendations or ones to avoid?

With Mayday (Caravan Club) but provided by Green Flag as it covers car and caravan in case that breaks down. Price has virtually been the same for 5+ years. We have cover for 2 cars with it - mine (tow car) and Fazzini-jnr-snr's. We also have cover for Mrs F's car (and technically mine) through bank account. That's provided by The AA.

We use GEM; they do personal rather than vehicle cover and doesn't matter if you're the driver or a passenger.

Tend to use our Tesco vouchers for RAC cover. Not used in years but as soon as I cancel something will go wrong!

Startrescue. Great if the car is less than 10years old

We've been with AutoAid for years after it was recommended on here , only used them once and they were quick and professional to deal with.

RAC - renewal premium was massively up so I let it lapse and soon after joined as a new member for less than the previous year’s price.  There’s always a deal to be done

Currently with the AA and won’t be going with them again after they left us stranded in mid wales .

I've been with RAC for a few years and had a couple of calls and always been pleased.  Premium always goes up but if you can find an AA sale on they'll always match.  Any vehicle means they cover my bike as well.

Green Flag I had for years and were cheap with good cover, but when push came to shove I thought the service was awful.  Waiting around for 3 hours in a cold car and that wasn't a one off.   I think they use local agents so it comes down to luck as they may only have one agent in your area.

Years ago was with RAC, expensive and the one time I called them it just got subbed out to a local place who took about 4 hours to arrive (in an urban area, although admittedly late night). Ended up switching to Start Rescue (following posts on here) and they were cheaper, had a decent app and the one time I needed to call them arrived in under an hour (middle of the day though).

I've since switched to the Polestar service but only as it means I can just press the SOS button in the car (and it was only marginally more expensive)

another for autoaid/autonational.  same company but depends on whether you want the car or the person covered.  never had to use them yet but the feedback is good for them so i wouldnt envisage a problem.

Used AutoAid a few times, as I've been with them more than 10 years now.

Service is acceptable to good, depending which local tow company they assign to you and how busy things are.

Gone up to £78 this year, so I was thinking of shopping around.

Bundled with a Nationwide account. Monthly fee for account includes phone, travel, white goods cover. The breakdown cover covers our camper too at 7.5m 4.8 T. Pretty sure as long as you are with the broken vehicle you are covered too.

AutoAID here too. Never had to use them until a couple of weeks ago and it was a slick and pain-free process to get towed home from Edinburgh.

Certainly no complaints here.

Same here as sparkerfix. The Nationwide flex plus account has a monthly subscription that provides AA cover for vehicles up to 7.5T. Very handy for anything over the standard 3.5T.

Another with the Nationwide flexplus AA cover here.

Actually had to use them on Sunday as I'd stupidly left the lights on when taking the dog out somewhere. Was away for about 3 hours and the bloody battery was flat. They were with us within half and hour. Didn't even have to phone them, all done via the AA app. Bloody brilliant service.

me and her indoors have AA through Halifax ultimate reward account ( costs us 17.50 a month but also get travel insurance and mobile phone replacement cover aswell as other stuff). Cant fault them, and as we both drive german cars use the AA at least a couple of times a year!

Nationwide. Open a joint account and you get cover for yourself and your SO. Plus all the other benefits listed above. Oddly the holiday insurance covers skiing, but not MTB. You can upgrade the cover for around £40 a year to sort of cover MTB 🤐.
